Is this another way of asking for subs?

I can see it being another way of asking for subs. But I can it being just for fun and it doesnt bother me because its like game. The comments asking if the people could get them to like 1000 subs without them uploading a video. People actually participate in it too but the people really have no videos so is it them trying to get 1000 and then start uploading? Or is it just for jokes?

No its not... but you can gain subs if people view and like your content. I just think more people need to check out each others content

Just leaving a thoughtful comment to a youtuber is all it really takes... you dont have to ask they will most likely check you out. If they don't thats ok.. its better then spamming folks...:D

ShyGirl has it. If you make an effort and comment and engage with other smaller YouTubers you can and will build friendships and off of this you gain subs. I have checked out many a people channel from just their comments alone because it was either motivational or funny.

6 time out of 10 its not a YouTuber and just a regular viewers but I do come across some YouTubers with some even having 5K+ subs.

There was this guy that went to 100K subscribers without a single video. I believe he got shut down by YouTube for a TOS violation. They might want to wait till they got 1K subscriber before they start uploading. But you better believe they will start loosing subscribers the moment they do unless their content is just that good (which it rarely is).
