Is there a point to twitter?

I'm a fairly new youtuber, I started back in late October and I was just wondering is there a point to have a twitter. I mean I understand you can post your vids and news there but it's hard to get subscribers an its even harder to get followers. Should I keep my twitter and maintain it or just let it be?

Maintain it! Everything is about persistence, so all you gotta do is keep producing good content and using twitter to alert your followers (no matter if you have 1, 10, 100 or whatever number followers)

For promoting, I feel that Twitter works a lot better than Facebook, there is no dang privacy rules to deal with and your post could get retweeted by total strangers and get you more views. Facebook, it's just "he liked this" "she liked this". Maintain your Twitter, man!

As a new youtuber, I find that twitters don't do alot.. But as you progress they become very good at promoting your brand and your channel. Also, I'm not aware of a succesful youtuber channel that's in the top 30 that doesn't utilize twitter to some degree.. something to consider.

I think the more social networking you have the better in the long run. Right now I only have 11 subscribers and not many followers on twitter but If you build your twitter followers with your youtube subscribers you have an easy way to advertise your new content, and with more subscribers you have a better chance of "trending" or whatever they call it. End results, more people see it. I find it really hard to maintain all the networks I have going right now with so few subscribers, the pay offs are minimal, but eventually it will pay off. Just keep working hard.

Keep it, it gets more important as time goes on. I'm glad I'm on twitter. A really big youtuber in my genre just retweeted me the other, day and another one may be interested in a collaboration with me (I don't know how serious they were, but whatever). I seriously felt like you when I first got twitter. Stick with it. Don't always tweet about your videos and read and respond to their tweets also.
