Is the Mistletoe Prank a Risky Idea?

Hey, so an idea I have for one of my next videos is a Mistletoe prank (inspired by Stuart Edge) where I ask girls around my campus for a survey and the last question will be "do you do the Christmas tradition of the mistletoe? Like if there was one right now?" and then depending on their answer, have a friend come in with a mistletoe on a stick. Keep in mind that the kiss only happens if permission is granted.

My friends and camera crew think it's a brilliant idea, yet at the same time my mom thinks that I'm risking people suing me for sexual harassment/assault...even when permission was given for the kiss...

What do you guys think?

Also another idea, should I perhaps ask my school's Student's Union for their opinion on it? Since the prank will take place at my school, and I figured they'd be most familiar with policies and stuff like that.

- or candid camera (just me asking with a clipboard)

Edit: Okay, now another friend of mine that I asked said I'll be risking getting herpes...is he kidding or is it for real? o.O

If you've really got your heart set on the idea, maybe you should go for it. Though, since it is taken from a well-known video, it could be construed as not very creative or creepy. If you come up with any other ideas in time, maybe you could go for those instead? Ultimately, it's your call
 
I think you better ask your school's Student Union for permission. It is always better if you get their backing in case there are some legal issues.

Also I guess the students in your college are of legal age otherwise you can get in trouble with their parents.
 
If you are going down the route of prank videos I don't think you can be too concerned about political correctness or personal risks - you just have to do it, it's all or nothing! Look at Sasha Baron Cohen and his Borat series...

I'll check in on your channel to see how you get on...expecting to see a video from you behind bars with a black eye and a boil on your lip :giggle:
 
Considering that there are far worse and lawsuit-ready pranks out there, this seems pretty harmless. I'm not a lawyer but I'm sure they can't charge you with sexual harassment/assault just because someone sticks mistletoe in between you both. It all comes down to how you handle it though - if you aggressively start making a move to kiss them, or try to pressure them, then it could be cause for someone to complain. The riskier thing about this is that unless you get some of them to actually kiss you (which could happen!), the rest of it could run the risk of being more cringe than funny.

Still a fun idea though, did Stuart Edge's version get a lot of kisses?
