Is Originality Dead on Youtube?

I think you defs have to strike a balance to get people to your channel, then after you get a following, you can do more original stuff. I don't think it's dead at all on YT, but I think it's harder to find because of the sheer amount of content on the site as opposed to when it just started.

It's hard to make something new.... and it's such a big world and there are so many Youtubers that even if you think that you got something new.... chances are someone else already did it.

i dont know if originality existed to begin with, my dude
were all just parts of other peoples personalities, afterall

anything we do, we learned from somewhere

I think originality is dead in all mediums and forms of art. But that's okay! We were all meant to take inspiration from each other and add our own little spice into it, it's just the way that it is nowadays and still has so many positives :)

Its almost the same like restaurants and fast food places.

Is originality dead? Well, what makes them different is probably their feel, a special menu, different taste and different style. Even with almost the same menu.

You don't have to be 100% original, but you still need a little something to stand out + good enough quality to get regulars.

Same applies to youtube and everywhere else.

I think you have to view it like a band trying to make it big. A lot of them have to play covers to begin with, so that they can gain crowd interest. After they gain that interest, they begin easing them into their original content. Just a thought.

I agree with you to some extent, but some channels are original within an unoriginal format. Some youtubers add a lot more creativity (in terms of editing, perspective, personality, etc) to their Let's Plays or Vlogs or whatever than the average channel.
