Is my camera quality good enough? And what camera do you use?

Hey, Justin here.

So I was wondering if the quality on my camera (Sony HDR PJ220) is good enough for videos such as vlogging and pranks. (I am already using it in my videos) I know that Greg Benson from Mediocrefilms uses a Canon HFR200 (which when I compared, is actually quite similar to my camcorder)


BTW, I'm kind of new to camcorders. Is there any way to make the image sharper on your face? (it seems that the background is pretty sharp but the face remains not as sharp as I've seen in other Vloggers.
 
I can't say whether your camera is good enough as I've never used it. I do public pranks and I have a Canon Rebel T3i EOS DSLR. I got this camera on recommendation from LAHWF…I find the quality to be great; however I'm thinking of buying a camcorder as well due to the fact that the zoom on my Canon is not optimal for hidden camera pranks.

It looks fine to me, I think you might just have to sit slightly closer to the camera. BTW nice videos I hope you become more regular with them.

Yeah, at this stage, I don't think I can afford a DSLR :P but I compared some of my past test shots that I took in the city to some of the stuff from Fouseytube and Mediocrefilms and they're both pretty similar. However, Vitaly's camera does seem to be more hi-def haha

BTW Prank Invasion, what do you think about re-making pranks if you give credit to the original creator? I've seen a few good prank/trolling ideas that I think would be funny to do in my local area![DOUBLEPOST=1396240434,1396240349][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks man! And I am planning on becoming regular with them after my exams (so about two weeks from now). :D

If it's a good idea, re-making pranks is totally acceptable! Even Sam Pepper recently gave credit and re-made Jack Vale's social media prank. Vitaly also re-made and gave credit to Jack Vale when he performed a pooter prank in his early days. What is great about pranks is that even if the concept is the same--the outcome will always be original because no two reactions are ever the same.

I use a GoPro Hero 3 Black and my iPhone 4s... Here is an example of each:

iPhone (this video was on Fox News, so the cam is not so bad)
 
The Sony should be fine, but make sure that the lighting is okay, but I'm not exactly sure how the microphone would cope in outdoor conditions, particularly if there is a little wind. Personally I use a Canon DSLR like a post above, but of a 5D variety. It's okay, but the lack of autofocus and a twisty screen thing are annoying. Meanwhile zoom is fine if you get an apropriate lens.
