Is it wrong to be afraid of what my direct environment thinks?

I simply don't care. Camera's are everywhere nowadays, so no one bats an eye. Sure, people stare at the action cams hanging from a car or look at the guy filming himself. But no one is going to call you out on it. At least, I have never had anything like that happen.

I would say If you get negative feedback make a positive situation out of it.
Don't be afraid of what people have to say its also good to know why people don't like your videos.
The biggest channels on youtube have many dislikes and rude comments but it doesn't affect them.

Yes that's definitely true!

No matter what you do someone, even close friends and family will be against it.
I make youtube videos for fun and to share the joy of freediving - i already have a stable career and dont need fame or secondary income.
A close friend has recently told me how crap my youtube channel was and that no one was watching my videos (i average 200-300) views per video.
He was comparing my channel with channels that had over 50k subs.
He's also constantly pressuring me to "dumb" down my channel and focus on making "viral videos" to boost views.
I told him thats not my style and not the focus of the channel. When i told him to start his own channel - he came up with excuses like "i got no time".

People may bring you down for their own stupid reasons. But remember you are doing something you love and those that are criticising you might not have the guts to have a go at things themselves

Fellow Youtubers,
I woke up today saw a very funny facebook message ,Guy raging telling me "you a s****y Youtuber"
I have to say I kind of like this because now I know I'm getting views :)
As James Franco says " Haters gana hate and ain'ters gana ain't";)

nahh i get that, alot of the people i know hate the best youtubers in the world because it just isnt their thing which makes me want to share my content elsewhere like sites like this to avoid people i know giving me crap for something i do even though they dont like it anyway. i guess just remember theres an audience for everyone and sometimes it not where you live or work?

It's not wrong, but you do have to "feel the fear and do it anyway" at some point (I don't remember who's channel I was watching when they said that, it was a video that I clicked on once and watched only a minute of, but that stuck with me).

Good luck!

I think that it's normal but you must overcome that fear , put it this way ; Those people could be helping you and giving you their feedbacks & also it would just generally feel better ... I personally wouldn't advice you saying it to your school tho ... before having a gaming channel , in 2012 I had a makeup channel and I'm a bit crazy so one day before class I wrote my youtube channel link on the class board before the teacher arrived so the whole class went on their phones to check it out and it started total chaos hahah (chaos that only lasted one week because since I was only 13 at that time I had to deleted couldnt keep up with everything) so in conclusion definetly talk about it to the ones that really mean to you ! :)
