Is it wrong to ask for donations?

Hey guys, So If you haven't subscribed to my channel or watched any of my videos then you probably have no idea what's going on. Basically I'm in a serious black hole with the chances of survival getting smaller and smaller each day.

I try not to blast it out there I keep everything 100% with my views so I usually blend it in with my videos. Well today with recent news of my family wanting and trying everything in their power to continue and try to kick out me and my pregnant girl friend. I made a patreon because I got a email from a fellow subscriber who said he wish he could donate. It's just now that I finished it up, I wonder if people will look down on me , I mean I've gone to the internet as my last resort untill word of this job comes through. But I can't help but feel ashamed I'm practically on the streets like a bum begging for money to survive.... I don't know I just wish it wasn't this way.

I'm freaking out guys, I want your feedback
what do you think about setting up something like patreon?

Good/bad I just want some help

Thank you all for reading

Have a wonderful Day/Night

Don't feel bad.

The fact that someone actually asked you if they could donate means a lot. That means people want to support you so you can continue providing entertainment. You're not forcing anyone's hand, not begging, not making a pity case. It is entirely up to them. Patreon exists for a reason - to support content creators who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to provide what they do. So please don't think any less of yourself!

I'm sorry to hear about your dire situation. Maybe it's just me, but who wants to live with such parents.....

Anyway, back to your question: Even if you are not in such a situation, it's absolutely not wrong to ask for donations. As long as it's not begging I guess....

I know enough streamers who lives off donations, and it shouldn't be a problem in Youtube.

Depends on the person. But be prepared... Some of your subscribers might walk!

There are people out there that believe everyone is responsible for their own monetary wealth. Those are usually the people that are not experiencing hard times themselves (and in some cases, never have).

I understand where you are coming from. I won't unsubscribe just because someone has a crowd funder. But, if a person would start and put it at the end or mention it during every video? That's when you start to loose me. No one likes a beggar. Also, at your subscriber level I do not think you will see a meaningful participation rate, but you don't know unless you put it out there.

Thanks for the feedback guys! - Good advice , much love I'm just going to link my patreon in the description of my videos and just leave it at that. If people care and want to help they can, If they want to just enjoy the video that's also great!

When you have a child that you are responsible for, pride doesn't matter. You can feel ashamed all you want as long as you are putting a roof over your child's head and food in their mouth. That being said, don't go expecting your subscribers to bail you out 100%. Also, unless you get a ton of positive feedback from this, it might be time to stop YouTube in favor of picking up a paying job in it's place. Hope things work out for you. I don't know the specifics, but it sounds like a pretty ****** up situation.

Listen I have activated my fan funding feature. I did not mentionned it in my videos , or asked for anything but I thought if some bored millionnaire likes my videos and decides to give me a donation he should be able to do so

You have a sub that told you he'd like to help so do not feel ashamed or anything. Helping people is as much about the personn you help as about yourself. It makes people feel good and useful.

And good luck with your situation :)

I'd support causes but not the pocket of random strangers, it's a cold way to look at people but you'd be surprised how easy it is to spin the right story and pull at heart-strings.

I'm tired of people asking for money on YouTube, as though what they do is ANY different to the rest of us! :P

Yeah, I can also see it that way but also that's where good judgement comes in. Obviously anybody who has a house, car, source of income and does YouTube as a hobby and says donations are always helpful for new equipment etc. Is far different then somebody who all they have left at the moment is YouTube and there just asking for some help.... But with that being said I'm a frim believer in Good karma, what goes around comes around.. If some one helps that some one out they have to return the favor. I actually liked your feedback I find it very informative.

Thank you
