Is it Worthwhile?

Hello All,

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to create a Facebook page and/or Twitter account in the name of my channel, solely for posting videos and getting myself "out there". I see a lot of YouTube channels that have both Facebook and Twitter on their channels, so I was wondering; Is it Worthwhile to use Social Networking an advertisement strategy?

definitely yes. it definitely helps to have an extra search result for your videos. also you have a way to reach out to people beyond the YT medium. :]

It has been suggested to me by numerous smart people that I need a Facebook Fan page. I don't really see myself as having "fans" lol I don't know if it's worth it yet. But I believe you should go for it.

This is how I felt, until recently I saw a youtuber do this really well. Instead of saying 'be my fan on fb' or whatever, she said, 'So youtube has a sucky layout, if you want to make sure to see my vids, like me on fb and you'll be notified and my vid won't be lost for you in the abyss of the new layout.' It's a better way of framing it to your viewers, and one that I plan on using when I launch a fb page soon. Because it's not about them being 'fans' and all that, it's more about interaction and putting your videos out there for easier accessibility. I'm a fan of a whole bunch of youtubers fb pages, especially smaller - mid sized ones, because it's really great to interact and keep up with them between vids.

That's pretty clever. Yeah, the whole "be my fan" thing weirds me out. Thanks for the idea. :)
