Is it worth traveling long distances to collaberate

Ive used google adwords before didnt get as many views as they said I would. Anyway I was planning on stopping by the youtube space also to check it out and network. :) Its almost like a mini vacation!

Hey everyone. I have a question for everyone. Here is a little backstory first. So a last month I contacted a known youtuber about collaberating. Now this guy has been around for about 5 years and has colabed with youtubers Timothydelaghetto, Destorm, and a few others. I sent him some ideas and he checked out my channel. He offered me partnership in th network h is apart of and after qustions and back and forth reading material I graciously declined. He said that we could still coberate but he asked me this question.

"Do you think its worth it to travel all the way to California for a colab?"

I live in Houston so its a 1763 mile drive 25 hours or a quick flight for me. Not to mention expenses hotel, food, cab or bus fare, spending money... so about 1500 for a few days. (cost of living there is high)

After explaing why it was I finally just said yes it was... my question to you guys is do you think its worth traveling 1763 miles or 2837.27 kilometers (for metric users). Just to do a video colab with someone you are subbed to and has more exp than you?
id go for it just make sure he is as legitmate as he claims id suggest asking his "clients" have they really worked with him before if possible.

Hey man why not? If that's something you enjoy doing, than do it.

But personally I don't think it's worth it.

Yea I seen all the videos he has colaberated on. With big channels and small channels. This post isn't about whether I think he will come through with his word or not. I already made up mind to go I'm just getting opinions of others on there thoughts with traveling to colaberate you know.[DOUBLEPOST=1367724443,1367724408][/DOUBLEPOST]

If he's going to push you to his audience, could be. But is a few hundred (don't expect any more than that from a one-off) subs is not worth $1500. Maybe if you were in a series of his videos (not him in yours).

Yea I can understand that I don't expect alot maybe a few hundred and mostly I would like to be face to face and ask questions about the industry network with other youtubers if I can. More so 1500 $ is a ball park estimate since I haven't been to cali in a long time I wouldnt know how much money to take for 2 or 3 days. If anyone knows an estimate I would really like to hear it.

When will you be in LA? Youtube space isn't open unless you schedule ahead of time-and unless there's a party or reception/screening, it's a terrible place to network. When I'm there, I'm there to work. If people kept wandering in and disturbed our work, I'd be p****d off. So keep that in mind if you go there to visit.

Oh didnt know that. All the videos they have of it is very misleading then. The videos make it look like a spot to meet other youtubers and colab. I never knew that you had to schedule it either.

Where do I find out all this info and how to schedule it?

Also dont have a exact date when I'm going im waiting on his reply and finalized details as of right now.

Private message me when you have a date and I'll see if there's something scheduled. The space event calendar for LA is horribly out of date-the most recent listing is from March, so I usually email a few contacts at youtube to see what's going on.
