Is it Really Worth it?

Hi everyone. I've been with RPM/Maker Gen for 2 years now, and my contract is expiring soon. I'm really considering leaving, and wanted to hear some opinions about if it is really worth being partnered.

In my two years of being with RMP/MG I've never really felt like they've done anything for me. All the growth my channel has had has been by my own hand. I'm at the point where I don't even need advertising anymore. I don't see the royalty free music as a perk because it often gets flagged and I can just use Kevin Macleod music. The new sound effects website and Spreadshirt also mean little to me.

Bottom line, I don't see what warrants them taking 40% (they are offering me 70/30 now, but still) of my profit for doing next to nothing. Sure, it would be nice to advance into Polaris, but I am still far from being at that level, so what is the point? Any opinions on the matter would be appreciated~

Sounds to me like you've answered your own question. Go out on your own cause they ain't helping sounds like and you can always go back if you change your mind! Hope this helps

There are better networks that RPM. Their 60/40 share is really bad but good for very small people starting up who need a network that accepts small guys.

The forums for RPM is pretty good and the tips newsletters and advice on the forums can be very useful, but yea 60/40 is pretty extreme but i don't earn anything big enough to actually get paid so doesn't bother me

I'm independent with Adsense and love it. Why do you even need a network? I also like seeing my Adsense 'real time' to see where I'm at. My only consideration for 'possibly' joining a network would be through Maker Studios because Disney bought them out and that might be great for my demographic and open up some possibilities with Disney IP. But I'm not convinced yet, I love being independent.

Because networks should be considered if your doing video games. A lot of them buy the copyrights for us so we can use them as well.

I'm also concerned :/ Ive been thinking a lot about networks and such. On the one hand they seem helpful and good for you, but on the other they don't do nothing but taking money from you :/
You have to fight for every penny in this world :c
