Is it legal to put images from Google Images and put them in your video?

People should use common sense before answering these questions. If I google the name of a band, and find their CD art on google images, it's still copyrighted no matter where I encountered it or whether it has a watermark or not.

Google images shows images from websites whether they are copyright protected or not. Say you're an artist and you have a personal website of your work. If you title a photo "the bomb" and someone google searches "the bomb" and your photo comes up, it's still your photo.

Faces are not exempt from this. Photographers make a living taking the pictures of celebrities and selling those pictures rights to newspapers and tabloids. Those media sources cant just take pictures from google images and save their money.

Usually the only way to be 100% certain is to find images/clip art/stock photos which explicitly say they are free for commercial use. Any other cases you need to ask permission to be totally safe. IMO not many people will find out if you use something minor for a very brief time in a video. Even fewer will try to come after you. Read up on youtube's copyright laws to get a better idea on stuff like free use.

Hello,

if you did not take the picture you may not use it.
Somebody worked to take this picture.
Either take your own photos or pay for it.

You cannot steal any content just because it is in the internet.

I have accidentally found my thumbnail on another YouTube channel. I have filed a copyright claim, the channel is now closed. I think he stole more than just my thumbnail.
He contacted me and said he found my image on google and thought it was okay to use it.

The thought that everything that I upload might get stolen sometimes takes the fun out of content creating for me.
I love making videos and thumbnails and pictures for my blog / social media.
I take the photos myself and I also buy stock photos to use in my edits.

I really hope that in the future there will be ways to track your videos and photos in the net to see if it has been stolen.

Thank you and have a nice day! :)

They´re certainly not "free to use", and it´s certainly against Youtube´s TOS. Are you the author of those images? No? Then you can´t use them. You can´t use ANYTHING THAT WASN´T CREATED BY YOU. And if you do, you need permission.

Now, i just don´t know if Youtube will take any action against you if you use content that isn´t yours. I´d say 90% of Youtube partners use third-party audio, video and images, and i don´t see them having much problem with it. Maybe they claim fair use. I don´t know. But it´s certainly a risk.

Step 1: Go to google images.
Step 2: Search the particular image you are looking for.
Step 3: Go to search tools.
Step 4: Click on Usage Rights an select "Reuse with modification"
Step 5: Choose your public domain/creative commons photo!

Hope this helps!
