Is it just me, or...

There are two types of gaming channels out there.
1. People who actually care about the game. Those who play games and commentate on it for fun, but also to have an in depth look at the game they're playing. This is why Game Grumps is so great: they legitimately enjoy the game and also add their opinions to it. Also, they're very funny.
2. Sellouts who are just in it for the views and money. I mean, would have the people who record themselves playing Slender or Happy Wheels record it if the games weren't that popular? Most of the time it's just "lol i died xDD" and they add nothing new or interesting to it. This is why I dislike Tobuscus and most other gaming channels.
 
It's true but some people do video game commentaries as a form of vlog type thing instead of showing their face ( not everyone feels comfortable showing their faces) or just to have something to do while you talk. I do it to show games my friends haven't played, but I have, so they can see what it looks like or just to record a story that happened at the time so that I can keep a record of it for myself in the future.
 
I agree there are two types of gamers. I think for the most part there a large number of gamers recently because it's become the easier route whereas vlogs/comedy sketches generally take more work. I don't know, that's just my guess. :/
 
I really don't understand the popularity of game play/gaming commentary videos either, but I'm not much of a gamer.
Some of them that I have seen almost seem like a vlog with a game playing in the background.
I also don't understand how these videos get past the copyright filters.
 
I guess at the end of the day, it's just whatever you're into, and however you look at it. I do it because I enjoy games, I also enjoy being an idiot while playing the games. The fundamental issue really is you either find it entertaining or you don't, same principle stands for any genre of video you can find on YouTube.

I do all of those! Including video game let's plays! I get what you're saying. I love video game channels though but I don't get it when one channel only does 1 game. Like all of the uploads are Call of Duty...I can feel my headache setting in already just thinking of a COD only channel.
 
I do feel the majority of videos are some gaming video.
