Is it even an "cool" to make it anymore?

I think now YouTube is also a stepping stone to other opportunities if you "Make It Big."

Book deals, television shows, live appearances.

You need to make it big, grow a big enough base to be able to do things like that.
 
I think it'll always be cool to reach any milestone, but I don't think it's about that. I think it's about acknowledging the work that you put in as a creator and knowing that people think your work is valid and worth watching. I would be ecstatic if I reached 100K and never saw anything from it, because then at least I'm doing something that people like and making contributions to things.
 
Well if we define "making it" the same way, then I'd say being able to do something I love for a living is DEFINITELY worth it.
