For film reviews you've got big competition but people like a variety of different opinions about a film because everyone things differently.
As for indie film making as long as you can come up with great solutions for things which would normally cost a lot of money you will do great, you can post videos like that on student money saving websites and such and film students will find your channel because of it.
Movie parodies is another great category because as long as you create something that's good quality and funny it could go viral easily!
The only thing you might have trouble with is the short films, but if your channel grows on the other subjects your short films will end up getting more attention off the back of that, why not do a series on DIY/Indie film making then create short films using the tips you've provided then you can advertise the video as a end result of that series, that could work really nicely
But overall, I think it's a great niche and will work great if your videos are good quality and the things you do are original

just make sure you advertise as well because self promotion is the key to everything on youtube
