Is Dxtory a good pc video recorder?

I want a video recorder that does not use up alot of cpu (make your game lag while recording).People have been saying DXtory does just that,is that true,is it worth getting,or do you reccommend another screen recorder (they don't have to be free)
 
Yes, it's worth getting but I must say, it's quite complex if you're a first time user. Bandicam is another alternative, I personally use it and had no problems with them whatsoever.
 
I find it easy to use and it gives you good footage provided your computer can handle it. I'd get it over Fraps purely because Fraps lacks the extensive features that Dxtory does.
 
If you want good quality game play you are down to 2 choices DXtory and FRAPS. Both have advantages and disadvantages. For 70% of my recordings i use DXtory because it allows you to play normal FPS and record at 30FPS or 60 which ever you choose. With FRAPS you are forced to play at the FPS that is recording, so if i want to record a game at 60FPS then im forced to play at 60FPS even if my card can do 200FPS. My computer is not even impacted by performance drop with Dxtory, slight frame drops with FRAPS. But for me when i record BF4 with Dxtory it always comes out really choppy and non fluent. Because of this, for bf4 only i record with FRAPS. Everything else i use DXtory.

All screen recorders will cause lag on a system that isn't powerful enough. For good, 50-60 fps recording, I would recommend a mid-range nvidia GeForce card such as the GTX 660. I had one in my old pc and that was able to run most games at high framerates while recording. In terms of my preference of actual recorder, both Fraps and DXtory have been good to me (though not on my machine). I found a lot of other recorders to be somewhat lacking in terms of the options I wanted while recording.

well i have a Nvidia geforce 650 TI 2 GB card but my cpu is not that good at the moment but im gonna get a better cpu soon.
 
One thing that FRAPS can do that DXTORY can't is record your desktop. I don't know if they've changed that since I looked at it but I wen't with FRAPS because it seemed a lot easier to use for someone who was only just starting off in the recording side of things.
 
I prefer Dxtory over Fraps as Fraps takes up alot of memory on your computer, while Dxtory (if you have the right codec) can record 10 to 20% less then the average Fraps recording. Which means more memory for you on your computer! That and for certain games, if your PC can't handle Fraps reocrding them, Dxtory will be able to. For me, Minecraft can play a good 60+ frames without recording but with Fraps, it goes ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 10 FRAMES while recording! Its riduclous! Then I got Dxtory and it reocrds it at the frame rate the game is running. So overall for me, Dxtory is a better solution.
