I m not big on gaming channels, but I will stop to watch one with commentary. It is a lot more entertaining .... If you practice you would be surprised at how hilarious our minds are
From what I've seen and from my own personal experience, commentary usually wins out over anything else. If you're nervous, you can always do a few private practice runs first. You can also write down a list of ideas of topics you may want to cover, be they related to the game(s) or something else entirely. Seems like it's definitely worth the try though
It depends really what type of gaming videos someone is going with. If it`s just game play clips voice overs are not needed. But a lot of types of gaming videos do have some type of commentary to it. It all depends what direction you want to go.
Just try commentary, I used to be like you. Not very confident and shy (I'm introvert lol) Also because I felt that I have a weird accent which I am embarrass about it, but I have gotten alot of encouragement from my friends so I've decided to give it a try and started to practice talking to myself alone lol.
Eventually you will get used to it as well as become better at it. I am still taking baby steps but yeah.. Hopefully one day You can speak confidently.
I prefer making my videos with commentary. Because it just makes your videos more personal and most people subscribe for you as person, not the games you play.
If you plan to become 'Big' then you'll need to comentate over the top of the videos because the different styles of commentating makes the video more interesting. But on a side note you just gotta do what makes you more comfortable
