Is being a creator what you thought it'd be?

Hey Everyone!

When I started my channel i never expected to have overnight success or have viral videos... or even have millions of subscribers. I wanted a place to be creative and have some fun.

That being said, after posting videos for over a year now (though not regularly enough) I never would have realized that it would be so difficult to get my videos out there for people to view, like & subscribe.

I'm happy with the stuff I put out, so that is all that matters, but sometimes think it would be nice if was easier :)

What has your experience been as a creator? Has it been easier or harder than you expected? Is there anything you have learned about yourself or the process since starting YouTube?

I'm interested find out about everyone's experience!

Yeah I've been making content (sporadically) over the course of the year and only have 25 subs to show, though I love to know that the people who watched my stuff are smiling and enjoying what they see ^^ This year is definitely the year I'm going to knuckle down and do more stuff... that's the plan anyway xD

Only a month in, but I think things are going as expected. It has boosted my confidence, as both a person and creator. Been willing to talk to people more and learn/try out new ideas.

Before September I've always been the "viewer" but I always wanted to make videos myself, I started in September and although my first few videos weren't great I've quickly got to grasps with it and I am improving all the time both in confidence and skill :) It has actually been a lot of fun as I expected it to be although I didn't realise how much time and effort was actually required to make & upload YouTube videos multiple times a week so I've gained a new found respect for each and every person who uploads to YouTube, especially people who do it daily! While I am enjoying it a lot, sometimes I just don't want to edit... All depends on my mood at the time I guess but sometimes I just can't be bothered and get depressed at the thought of editing (even though I love editing it annoys me sometimes).. I also find it hard to be creative at times and get frustrated when I can't think of a video to do etc.. To answer the titled question, yes it is. It's rewarding. Though it has it's ups and downs, it's quite fun and some of the comments I get that make my day make it all worth while :) It's a hobby that I really enjoy and interacting with people who watch/like/comment on my videos is always awesome :D

That is awesome! If you feel that way in a month, then the sky is the limit!![DOUBLEPOST=1422321922,1422321677][/DOUBLEPOST]It sure is surprising how much time and effort it takes to put out a 3 min video!!

Well, no........

I thought it would be easier, but not, it has a lot of thing to do... i just love it but sometimes im really tired of editing and recording... but when i start to record i suddenly get up and happy...

sometimes its magical the way it gets when the editting is done... i really love it and its better than i thought... and i record everyday, so i always got something to record

I couldn't imagine recording every day... I know i have to be more consistent than 1x per month that i've been doing.

If it was easier anyone would do it. The fact that you are makes you just as special as that guy with millions of subscribers and billions of views. It takes effort to put yourself out there, and there is great enjoyment in seeing your content watched.

You couldn't have said it better!

I never expected it to be easy that's for sure. I've always categorized youtube videos with arts (music, art, poetry, drama, film, etc). Where it's a lot of hard work to get your name out there or to make a living off of.
