Is a 30 second intro too long?

So I am working on an intro for my new youtube account. I found the perfect song and I have the perfect idea, but its 30 seconds long. I can try to shorten it to about twenty seconds, but I prefer the 30 second one and it sounds better. I believe that the intro length depends on the video length, but my videos last all the way from 2 minutes to 15 minutes. It depends. Thanks guys for your input!

That depends your intro better be real good most people are not patient at all, I have made my share of long videos and I will say from my experience I hate long videos and most people do as well. So unless you have something to keep their attention that is really good they will turn it off. I could be wrong this is just my opinion, you experiment and do what your heart tells you to do, I know it hurts to edit videos shorter cause you love every second of it but you have to think about what others will think.[DOUBLEPOST=1356752710,1356752394][/DOUBLEPOST]

Watched your video good job, of course if you do shorten down your videos make sure you keep the long versions saved for yourself and your family to enjoy.

I never was really into intros. When i make my videos they start immediately, maybe a spin in with words and a quick little effect to get it off screen then it's my video

Way too long imh. I would go no longer then 5 seconds. I watch a few channels with long intros, and after I see them once they get skipped from then on out. Especially on a 2 minute video, that's 25% of it just on an intro. My videos usually go right to the content now. But you can check my older videos and see a long intro that I used on a few videos if you want.

I'm told the first 30 seconds is the most critical in any video and the viewer will be judging your content harshly. I know I do. You better have their attention by then or they will just move on to the next video.

All I can say it better be a damn good Intro, maybe if the intro was different every episode and had samples of what the viewer will be watching. That might work...

Too long. I personally don't like intros. So if it's more than 5 seconds it's too much.[DOUBLEPOST=1356766183,1356765966][/DOUBLEPOST]Too long. I personally don't like intros. So if it's more than 5 seconds it's too much.
