Intros/outros dont work

Technomania

its over 9000!
every second counts for a youtuber, when you add a intro you lose 5 seconds and within that 5 seconds people are already getting bored/annoyed. i want you to think about a video that has 1 million views like this one, does it start with a intro? no

its been proven over and over again that getting straight to the video is a good way to keep your audience watching, adding something like a intro is like saying "i am bla bla bla" everytime to the same person. the outros are also bad since people dont watch outros that much. when adding a outro make it so that it has a meaning not just an extra page of links that people already watched. look at this example of an outro, you can skip it if you want.

what if you still want to do the same old intro/outro that been used by millions of youtubers with no success. i say go for it and read this thread in 10 years later.

Uh, no? Short, and catchy intro's help brand your channel, and make it more successful. As for outros? That's when you utilize call to actions, which can increase views by up to 65%, and potential subscription rates by over half (if done properly of course). Where'd you get the silly notion that all this was a bad thing? You said it's been proven, though where are the facts?

I half agree with you on some points. Definitely no intros, they are just too generic now a days unless you have made a really cool one. For the outro's though, who cares? The guy has already watched your entire video so it really doesn't matter if there is an outro at the end.

How is that half agreeing, when you basically just stated that both things were useless? As I stated, intros are nice for branding, and should be kept short, and to the point. As for an outro slate, those are really for newer viewers, and for those that might be interested in seeing other videos.

Sorry. I meant that outro's do work well because the person has already watched your video and is obviously a captivated viewer. In terms of the intro though, it really has to be "good" intro to be able to use it effectively, like KYR Speedys as an example.

I have no idea who that is. I'm happy with the intro in my videos. Short, sweet, and simple.

I put a lot of work into my intros as a way of grabbing a viewer. It's a great way of capturing the heart and essence of your channel, especially if you made it yourself. Feel free to check mine out if you're curious.

I really detest when youtubers use templates. They are too generic, filled with dubstep and obvious from the get go, especially when looking at their channel branding as a whole. When someone has a professional, slick and well made intro then has terrible MS Paint thumbnails I'm instantly put off. Sure some people don't have the technical skill to make one but if you're serious about Youtube then learn because without those skills you won't make it on Youtube.

Outros are also very important, especially as an end card. You can remind viewers to subscribe because it's not so obvious for some, and you link them to other videos which if they enjoyed that one will definitely click on another. Finally, if someone is new to your channel an outro will remind them of who you are.

Big youtubers like Pewdiepie and Markiplier don't have intros and don't always use end cards because they simply don't need to. Their popularity is driving everything for them, but for smaller channels these two things are essential.

My intro was a quick job partly done in Microsoft Publisher and Paint! Yet I have had a few positive comments on in due to its simplicity.

I'd have to disagree, an intro kept short and strong does amazing for branding your videos, I have gotten many compliments from mine especially since it's not a generic template intro. Of course I always add a little bit of an attention grabber before the intro itself which is what you should always do no matter what. No matter how good the intro is you must have a tid bit of video that will make people either laugh or become more interested in the concept of the video.

I think if they are done well, then they can work....that said I've seen more intros and outros that annoy me....which is why I haven't created any for my channel cause I think what I would create would suck....
