Intro Duration - Too long or too short?

I just made a new intro, its about 7seconds in total, but a good 3.5seconds is spent fading into the actual content. Thats down from ~15seconds with 5seconds of fading.
I'm not sure if it only works on your dungeon video but when the title fades out to reveal the menu it works really well :)

This sounds like an interesting approach. Is the intro overlay fullscreen or just part of it?
Its fullscreen pretty much. If i want to use it as a normal intro, i also have a background that I can use behind it instead. But I think the faster you can get to the content the better.

Thanks, They all follow a similar sort of style. It just changes because I am not good enough to be consistent :D

Hahaha I dont think its a case of being good enough, its just obviously game footage wont always start the same. Just down to the style as opposed to skill :P

True, I try to start it off all the same but some are easier than others and adjusting the frame over lap in movie studio is an inexact science. All that said, I feel that my editing skills are 1000% better than my commentary skills :D

I use to have an intro, but decided not to use it anymore. I'd rather have a branded saying I say at the beginning of my vids to get strait into the vid. Even Chris Smoove doesn't have an intro clip and he is one of the top.

According to YouTube 90% of the people decide to watch or not a video in the first few seconds. So whatever you do make sure you do not scare them away. Intros are optional so add them only if you have some great and very cool idea. May be experiment with different approaches and see which works best.

I suppose its similar to other aspects of life. Like a person can decide within 20 seconds whether they like you or not. Thing is with youtube is that people look for quick hits and have no hesitation about leaving your page
