Dear YouTube Creators,

At the beginning of the year, I wrote a letter to you outlining five key priorities for YouTube in 2018. Among those priorities was to communicate more frequently with all of you, and in that spirit, I plan to share updates with the creator community every quarter.

As you can imagine, the last two weeks have been incredibly difficult for the people who work at YouTube, myself included. As challenging as the experience has been for our YouTube family, the outpouring of support and kindness from creators has bolstered our spirits and reminded us why this work is so important. We know the last year has not been easy for many of you. But we’re committed to listening and using your feedback to help YouTube thrive.

Our community continues to grow at a healthy, responsible rate. Over the last year, channels earning five figures annually grew more than 35 percent, while channels earning six figures annually grew more than 40 percent. While we’re proud of this progress, I know we have more work to do.

One interesting new feature is "self-certification" - Creators provide information about the levels of profanity, sex, violence, drug use, and guns in their videos via a questionnaire. In its pilot test, YouTube found that creators’ reportings were consistent with how its own reviewers would have rated videos for ad appropriateness. It hopes to expand the test to more creators, but concedes that Self Certification depends on creators being honest in assessing their content.

You relation with Youtube from now on called "the company" with you from now on so called "the creator"....

I understand that it always remain fun to have a channel upload whatever we like or makes us happy but seems like a transformation from a public park to p!ay to a private p!ayground with surveilance. I am sorry the simile isn't exactly translated in English. People are trapped between either popularity and money digging in Youtube eithrer artistic contrast in Vimeo either in digital latency.

That will be a no across the board there brother! I'd be more interested in a whitelist where they look at the entire channel. It is pretty clear which channels pose issues and risks and which do not.
