Exactly. It's all about bragging rights. Everyone wants to be on top. Same reasons why athletes use steroids or any other drug like that. People want to look like they are better than someone else. It's a shame really. It shouldn't matter if you have more views or subs than someone. If you are having fun making videos, at the end of the day those subs/views are just numbers. That's how I look at it anyways. I mean yeah, I'd love to have a bunch of subscribers and views. But I want to achieve that myself and the real way. I want to be able to look at those stats and know I worked for them.
Its like the definition of pathetic. Though I would like to point out, some people do it out of ignorance, they just don't realize why it's bad, or actually believe the views are real. I know this, because I bought views in my first month of youtube thinking they'd be real. Boy was I shocked when I got 1000 views and NO subs, and NO comments, I was new to vlogging, so I thought I might just suck THAT bad LOL
This is how I feel about song creation. I used to HATE working on my songs, I just want the ideas in my head to appear magically onto my computer and sound perfect. That's how I thought when I was younger. One day I was listening back to my stuff and thought "Wait... that would SUCK. I wouldn't have anything to show for this, it'd only be cool because I had the idea. I went in that studio, I played those instruments, I worked out those background melodies, I tweaked that EQ, I sang those parts, I'm GLAD I have to get my butt in there and make this happen, it's way more impressive that way."
Yeah, I understand some people just don't know about those sites. In all honesty, I used it before on a account in the past. (I never bought them though, used free sites) I thought if I got my videos in the 300+ view count range, it would make people click on my video more. But I quickly found out that it didn't work towards my advantage. I later did some research and found out more about those kinds of sites, and haven't used them since. I don't even get on that account anymore. So yes, I can understand people who are not familiar with those sites. But sometimes it's just pretty obvious that they do it, especially when they disable the stats/comments/and ratings.
We have a vlogger on this forum (who will not be named) that has been doing it forEVER, and he even makes fake comments on his videos with fake accounts (his English is terrible, and every comment talks just like he does) And he just continues to insist it's all real. 4000 views, 300 likes, 5 comments, everyone telling him how great he is in the exact same broken English he talks in... *sigh*

yeeeah... the weird thing is he's not THAT bad of a guy... I mean, he's kinda nice in ways... it's just like "Dude... you are fooling NO ONE, just admit it man seriously" And don't go trying to figure out who he is, he hardly every posts anymore.
