I want to build a decent sized fan-base (50-100 active viewers) and I dont know where to begin...I just started today, and Im uploading my first video which is 720p, and has a decent concept for what im making my channel about (driving video games, need for speed, rigs of rods, forza, IOS games, ect.)

questions:

how do i gain more views on my videos?
how do i get people to leave feedback to help me improve?
and any other tips would ROCK :)

Just keep uploading content, optimize SEO's, have good looking thumnails, don't get discouraged when your not reaching what you expected.

Personally, I'm certain that YTtalk has a guide for this.

Patience is key. My channel has been going for almost 14 months now, and I would say I have about 150 active subscribers who always watch my videos. So patience is deffo key. Also, twitter, facebook, forums, talk to as many other youtubers as you can, swap tips and help eachother out. And upload regular, decent content that people will enjoy. Also, channel art, a good banner/profile pic/ logo in your intro/outro really helps. Keeping it looking professional helps people take you more seriously. And lastly, have fun with it, if you aren't enjoying making content, chances are people won't enjoy watching it. Good luck :)

Here's my advice on how you can help benefit your channel.

First things first, you need to set up a custom url. Right now I can't find your channel, so I won't be able to give you any advice on your videos or anything like that until afterwards. Here's a video on how to do that, and fit it on YTTalk.

Some advice I can give you without seeing your channel is...
  • Don't worry about subscribers or views, especially in the beginning. When you begin to focus on numbers, you loose touch with what's really important, your content.
  • Make videos that people are going to search for. It looks like you have a good niche in playing racing games. Think of what's popular right now, and create content that people would be searching for. This will help bring in more views.
  • Find a schedule that works best for you, and stick with it. Whether that be once a day, every other day, once a week, etc. (Gaming channels should aim for close to daily as possible). Schedules help you stay relevant to your subscribers, and maintain their interest.
  • Make sure all your branding is professional looking. Look at other channels that inspire you, and look at their thumbnails, banner, avatar, logos, etc. The more professional it looks, the higher chance people will click on them. (To get custom thumbnails, enable monetization)
  • Network with other people. Find channels similar to yours (try to aim for similar size as well), and become friends with them. Be active with their channels, and ask to do Box4Box. (Putting each other in the featured channels section). Networking is very important. If you're not going to take the time to interact with others, people won't want to take the time to interact with you.
  • Also with networking, collab with other people. Since you're a gaming channel, this is quite easy. Find others who play similar games, and make a video with them. This allows their audience to find you, and vice versa. Collabing is one of the best ways to grow and get your name out there.
  • Always make sure your content is the best it can be. If you don't find yourself enjoying the content, don't use it. It's very important to be happy with the content you are producing.
  • Interact with your audience. Respond to all comments, tweets, messages, etc. Ask them questions in the videos. Like "What do you guys think about _________". Asking these kinds of questions will encourage people to comment. For example, I rarely comment unless i'm answering some kind of question.
  • Create social media profiles for your viewers to follow, and interact with you. Be sure to update these as frequently as possible.
  • Don't be discouraged if you don't grow as quickly as you thought. Many people don't realize it takes a lot of time, work, and effort to get to where they want to be. Some people grow faster than others, while some grow slower.
  • Have fun, and don't worry too much about the numbers. You'll get there one day, so don't rush it.
