From a psychological perspective this person thinks that you will give him a shout out due to his "kindness" and he will get actual subs, while you just got his 10 botted subs. ha ha Its kind of smart if you target 13 year old gamers who have 3 subs and don't know what subs really are or mean.

But ya you should thank him for the inactive subs. ha ha

yeah, sorry to hear that though, i don't like people like that on YT they just screw up the system basically
 
when I get people like that not the message but the way the no activity ect no subs usually a hater quite funny actually
 
What is weird is that he doesn't ask for anything in return. I guess he thought that that it was implied by his "generosity". I'd expect him to ask you to sub back to his main channel and to give him a shout out or something.
 
While that's highly likely it was bots and he just wanted you to sub... he may have just genuinely liked your channel? I know if i like a channel I'll let people know regardless of their sub count without expecting or wanting anything in return :P
