It's difficult not to take dislikes personally, and I have read a few threads on YTTalk where some members are really bothered by them.

I usually have about 4 or 5 dislikes in a 28 day period and this morning I noticed that I have have 7!!!! I went to see if this spike related to a recent video. It turned out that one of the dislikes was for a video that I posted that is one of only two videos on my channel that are not original content produced by me. The video is mostly helicopter footage of a beautiful 150' sailing yacht called "Silencio" taken in Tahiti. It is professionally produced and just really spectacular to watch... there is actually nothing to dislike about it. No mention of how much money the owner has to annoy the envious, pretty easy to listen to music, beautiful scenery.

I guess that I'm posting this just to reassure people who get wound up about dislikes. Sometimes people will click the thumbs down because they generally did not like the content...but sometimes people just click it for no reason at all!
 
In the beginning i used to get bothered by dislikes but now it's all good :) Majority of the time I know who it is thumbing down my video haha so i just laugh & they these people are so sad & pathetic that they haven't left me alone for all these years lol :P & it's an interaction with my content so it helps somehow :D
 
I have been posting videos for 1 yr nd 3 months now... And it has been a Hard journey.. Having dislikes did bothered me earlier:( as you know I used to think 'Hey I made this Video so that people would get a little help' I found out the reason why People disliked my videos coz of my Audio Quality and Lack of editing... But as of now I don't bother these haters:wink2:! As I read a quote "Haters will keep hating but focusing on positive response on each video is much more inspiring!" Thank You ! :)
 
My first ever dislike literally ruined my day, but now I'm ok with it (still prefer likes though... :p). You should see it as a learning curve. What do the videos that get a lot of dislikes have in common, how can I improve this? This will only improve your content and help your channel in the long run :)
 
Dislikes do bother me as I wish they would say why! It's just the not knowing what it is that i did that bothers me. Its usually less than 5 a month at the moment but i'd like to know why they do it like some kind of feed back.

I think they should change from a thumbs up or down to a 5 star rating system with the option to add a comment to the rating or somthing like that. rather than us just having to take a wild guess or like above find the common problem.

Anyway yes i'd be lying if i said it doesn't bother me but I don't let it get me down. it just makes me over think the 'why' lol
 
Dislikes don't really bother me. I look at the percentage of likes to dislikes and if there are significantly more likes, I'm not fussed. However if there are quite a few dislikes then I think about what want enjoyable in the video to correct it for the future.

Maybe you can try figuring it out with your retention curves etc. At which point in the video do most people leave, maybe that is why they don't like the video... With some detective work in your Analytics you might get an idea of why they don't like your video...
Some dislikes really don't have a reason at all... Just someone having a bad day.

dislikes be dammed! especially when you and i have straight up video game chats in the comments section haha
