I was messaged on instagram by another youtuber

Cristy Ella

Loving YTtalk
A young girl messaged me on instagram asking for subscribers and to critique her channel. I wasn't doing anything so I said I would take a glance but will only subscribe if I liked her content. We got into a discussion and she said it was really refreshing that I was willing to help out.

Do you guys get approached by smaller accounts then yourself? How do you respond? Do you like to help out or do you find it a bit weird?

I thought this would be interesting to ask

I have been approached in the pass on my old channel, and on this one.
Honestly it depends what the persons content is like if I am willing to aid them in anyway, for example a seven year old who played minecraft on his phone was bugging me for some aid. I did what anyone would do in my position responded kindly then blocked him. ^^

Hehe the good old, can you take a look at my channel and ask for feedback technique. I don't advice you directly ask people to subscribe (At least use an if statement, Ex: "Can you give me feedback on my channel, and subscribe if you like it?"), but simply asking my friend's and network for feedback quickly got me to my first 200 subscribers. And yes this works on me almost all the time. I'll always give other channels a quick look. Asking for feedback strokes people's egos that they're special and their opinion is worthy.

I got approached when i was a little newer and she was asking to collab. I told her i was trying to work on my own content just because i was so new. Nothing since then has come up. But i would be glad to help if i wasnt new.

I do yeah. If it's a blatant spam message then I completely ignore it.

If it's a clear authentic message, then I'm very happy to visit a fellow small YouTuber's channel. :)

I was asked by few channels to check them out and sub.
When someone asks me to check them out, I immediately want to respond with yes sure, but they usually mess it up with "and please sub" which is a deal breaker. The usual spam thing.

90% of the time we can't even find their channels, or they have no videos (I am not kidding). I used to sometimes look but really I just don't have the time to watch every channel that asks us to check them out, there are too many.

I have only ever been approached by one person (apart from the whole sub for sub malarkey) who wanted to collab with me, They commented on one of my videos asking if I wanted to collab, I had to say no because they are probably 6/7/8 years younger than me (wow. That makes me feel old as hell.) and it would be awkward and creepy for me to collab with them! //// I also only know of their channel because they left a note in one of my local banks LOL so I was like 'Okay, child, I'll check out your channel'
real life sub for sub
... What a rollercoaster.

I've been approached by a couple small youtubers a few of which I've chatted and got to know a little bit, others just hit me with those annoying automated sub for sub type messages and I was like BYE! :stop2: lol
