I Want To Monetize, But Am Worried

Hello Everyone,

I already have a YouTube channel with 3500 subscribers that gets about 55,000 views per month now.

According to Social Blade, I would make perhaps $100 per month on AdSense.

Here's where I am concerned:

I have heard stories of people's friends, families, etc. watching a YouTube video in the creator's house and Google thinking the creator is doing click fraud and taking monetization away.

Could this potentially happen?

Also, if I were to watch my video on my mobile phone and an ad shows, would this be considered click fraud by Google? Finally, I am allowed to watch my own videos, provided I have AdBlock up, yes?

I have heard many bad stories of Google taking away AdSense privileges, so I haven't pulled the Monetization trigger yet. If you guys could help clear up my confusion, I would greatly appreciate it!

i would do it if you need money but if you dont i would focus on growing you subscribers and interacting with them more to help your channel grow

Don't click on your own ads and you'll be fine. If you have twitchy fingers, use AdBlock.
What if I have AdBlock up, but a friend comes over my house, pulls out their mobile phone, and watches a video of mine while an Ad plays on the screen. Won't Google consider my friend to be me and accuse me of clicking my own ads?

It's not really me I am worried about, but a friend or family member clicking an ad on my own video while they are over my place

As long as they're not logged in to your account you should be good.

Ahhh, that clears things up!

I had one more question. Say I am logged into my own account and watching my own videos. I am fine doing that as long as I have AdBlock up, right? Does Google penalize me in any way for watching my own videos and upping my own views or anything like that?

As long as you don't interact with the ads nothing should happen. So AdBlock should protect you from that. Anyways, good luck with you and your channel!

Don't click on ads from the same IP from where you log into your AdSense or YouTube channel, don't click on your ads at all even if you are on different IP's. Also if you have friends that came to your house, tell then to never click on your ads (not even when they are at their house). If you or them have android on the mobile phones google can track you and your friends activity through the accounts associated with that device. It will be better if you never told them about your channel, because if you ever argue with one of them, they can harm your YouTube channel pretty easy.

Remember Google knows a lot more that you think it does.

Are you going to watch your video once or twice to make sure it uploaded properly or are you planning to spam refresh it to increase the view count and click your own ads?

Don't watch your own videos more than a few, reasonable times and don't click the ads (or constantly let them play more than 30 seconds) and you should be fine. If you do either excessively, YouTube will know and punish you accordingly.
