I don't know that something being "overdone" is reason enough to avoid it. If Eminem had been all like "man the rap game is sooooo flooded right now, imma try my hand at climbing that McDonald's career ladder," then the world wouldn't have experienced his talent. And Eminem and Rap are basically the same thing as you and Flappy Bird.

Funny that the first thread I check out on here after joining is about the subject of the video we're working on right haha.
I feel like it's ok to do something 'overdone', as long as you pinpoint an original angle that you haven't seen before and try to make it stand apart from the bulk of it.
Then again, easier said than done!
