I use fraps to record my gaming but it takes up alot of my hard drive space :(

Huge file sizes are the nature of video... I've shot 4k raw before and the bitrate is about 1 gigabyte per second at 24 FPS...
 
I have a colleague who uses Fraps and man those file sizes are so big. Personally, I think Fraps' recordings are unnecessarily big and the lack of customization options are irking. When there are programs like Bandicam that can match quality with smaller file sizes, there's a problem.
 
Just edit the footage and delete the files once you've rendered the video as it will go through some sort of compression. That said, there is a "half-size" option with Fraps I believe.
