I realized something

ImJustAsBad

I Love YTtalk
I came to realization that I suck on camera. I can make jokes, come up with idea, be funny when the darn camera is off. But when the camera turns on, it all goes away. I can't do anything useful. This is a weakness I have. So, instead of giving up and making excuses I'm going to do more voice overs in my video. I'm not going to try to talk when the camera is rolling but I'll just do it afterwards.

You may be asking why am I telling you this, well I could easily just say to heck with all this. I don't need the hassle and then disappear from the internet. But I truly believe when you face obstacles in something you want to do, don't make excuses find solutions. Drag yourself through that filthy mud. Trust me, you may not get what you want but you will get something better. The experience of a life time.

Sorry for the rant. Here's a funny quote, "It is fun walking in the rain, especially when you are on fire."

The best way to go about it in my opinion is don't worry about the camera and such just imagine your talking to someone your known and just talk normally about what your doing or even if you find someone you known and are confident around then have them sit behind the camera and just talk to them not the camera.

I know that feeling. Sometimes, when I'm editing and I see how I speak on camera, I actually cringe. I think it just takes a lot of time and practice to become your "natural" self on camera. Speaking to nothing but a lens is not an everyday activity for most people so it just takes practice and time to become accustomed to it!

I too, work worse with a script. I'm either constantly glancing down at it, or it just sounds like I'm reading something in my head.

Just keep at it, and good luck! :)

It just takes time. Keep practicing and you'll get better with time. And yes, a script does help, but if you don't want it too scripted, use it as a general outline of what you want to say.

I suggest sitting the camera in front of you, turn it on, and just start talking. Don't edit it or upload it or anything. Just say whatever comes to mind and keep on talking until you are SO comfortable you will say whatever you want to say when you're actually making a video to upload. Hope that helps and makes sense. :D

You're channel doesn't seem that old and from the looks of it you only seem to average one video per week, you're just experiencing what all new YouTubers go through. Talking to a camera is tough anyway, but trying to be funny in front of one is even harder! Its just going to take time for you to get properly comfortable when you're recording. Don't get put off by it, just look at this early stage as you-in-training.
