I make all of ours using Paint.NET and it's worked pretty well for us. But if you want nice shiny 3D metallic fonts and stuff like that you may have to import from elsewhere, like the PictureToPeople text generator.
 
I agree with Playinithard. GIMP is a nice, free image editor. There are hundreds, probably a thousand if not more tutorials on how to use it on YouTube. I use it for all of my videos. Just look up a few tutorials, and you'll be set. :)
 
Hi, I can give you advice to use PhotoScape its reailly easy, its not hard for your pc or laptop and makes good job.. And you can make it better if u use photoscape + paint.net or 2nd option is Be Funky online photoshop or PicMonkey.....

Picmonkey is very good, i came across it after watching a youtube tutorial on how to make thumbnails. Very easy to use, and even though i have photoshop, i still use picmonkey for easy cropping etc. There are also youtube videos on how to get photoshop for free if you really want it.

Thinking that I'll use CS2 for main, Picmonkey for "minor" touch-ups, and then paint.NET for "major" touch-ups.... Hmmm...
