I need help. . .

Brace yourselves for a story. . .

I've always wanted to be an entertainer. It's been my dream, my goal. Unfortunately at a young age my parent convinced me to have a "back up plan", because this plan required college and education my dreams of being an entertainer had to be put on the back burner. To make a long story short, I really don't like the education system and I do not want to go to college and am pursuing a career as a YouTube Content Creator. I have full intention on making this my full-time job. I started my channel a few months ago. Although I know I'm new. I've struggled heavily getting any attention. I've tried everything. I even paid for YouTube ads to gain exposure (it didn't work). I also have a twitter account with a whopping 11 followers, and a twitch stream with 2. I just can't seem to get anyone to watch my content. I feel so stupid following tutorials and guides that suggest a "call-to-action" (basically asking viewers opinions or for them to click links or like or whatever) when I can barely break 50 views on a video. I dont know where to begin. I had a breakdown midstream today because I kept apologizing to the viewers that I wasn't speaking enough (many guides suggest speaking even if no one is watching) then I snapped out because literally no one was watching and I was apologizing to no one. Please help if you can.......

In an industry based on luck of the draw, I would say you should try a back-up plan to at least sustain yourself if or until your Youtube career works out. All the tutorial guides in the world won't help you improve your growth, it's something that comes with time and dedication. I've been at Youtube for 4 years now, 4 different channels, all with hugely different growth (11 subs, 3k subs, 400 and this one at 700+), but since I was still learning, I made mistakes with those channels and ended up losing the earlier mentioned 3. Sure making content for an audience of one is hard, but soon the one will become two, then four, soon after you'll see 100+ people frequenting your channel. Seriously, stay true to yourself, pursue this as a career once it makes itself available to you, but don't revolve your life around it. Get a part time job, earn some money, you'll be able to invest into better equipment, and be able to keep yourself financially stable while you work away at your dreams.

In short, don't give up on Youtube, it will take time. But make sure you have a stable source of income to be able to support yourself and your dream or it will never come true.

Have a backup plan! Your parents are right. You needn't study law or math. There is plenty of stuff that may help you building your YouTube channel like business or film school.
YouTube doesn't just happen. You need to learn all the skill and that takes time. Even if you made your homework that doesn't mean that you can make a living with YouTube.

I guess I should also mention. I'm 20 and college isn't really an option. I'm not sure if you guys are from the US or not but here pretty much the only way to make a living is with a college degree...

I'm up in Canada and have a few US friends, there are quite a lot of ways to make a living without a degree, you just need to put a bit of effort into job searching.

Just watched a couple of your vidoes. I'd start from scratch with completely new content. I'd try doing something more like Fousey. Pull some pranks etc. Just my two cents. If you really want to make it which it sounds like you do you've got to have content people want to watch. I just can't see the content you're currently posting working because there are other people that do game videos and talking head type stuff that are just at a much different level.

I have a job. I make $10 an hour but the cost of living is very high and the only way I can hope to make enough to live on is to work for raises but even still I wont have my own schedule and I'll be on someone else's time

Why isn't college an option? Are your grades too bad?
Even with good grades and scholarships (I happen to be a black male so they offer several just for minority)
I dont have the funds[DOUBLEPOST=1449385733,1449385668][/DOUBLEPOST]Thank you guys for your input. I really do appreciate it, even though no one really told me what I was asking :p. I had a bit of an epiphany, and I know what I need to do. I am still pursuing this as a career and I hope to see you guys later down the road thanks!
