Also it has Directshow output, which is amazingly useful.

tried that once with xsplit... was kind of a pain at the beginning, because xsplit didn't recognize it as a camera.
the nice thing is though, that you can alt-tab from the game and the stream will stay "ingame" :)

no need for the tools to hide browser windows and nonsense like that.

Try OBS! Pretty amazing for an alpha, and is just as good if not better than xSplit. Plus, free and open source :D

ah nice...
I've seen some streamers use it, but haven't really checked it out.
not playing any games currently that I actually wanna stream :) guess that'll probably be Dark Souls 2... so nothing until then.

concerning xsplit though... it was the first program actually being pretty user-friendly. but charging monthly for it, I kinda regarded that as a rip-off.
but it was definately an improvement over stuff like adobe media encoder, who was just a b***h to setup =/

I'll throw in behind Bandicam myself. I started out with FRAPS but really wanted to move to something with a smaller output file size. The quality difference is also indistinguishable (manually set Bandicam to 100% quality, it defaults to 80% or so on first run)

I see a couple mentions of having multiple separate audio streams using dxtory. You are able to get this with Bandicam as well, but only 2 streams (pc sound / mic). It makes editing so much nicer, though if I could have a third stream with just Skype sound that would be amazing.

I like bandicam for desktop recording.

it's not as big a performance hit, as if you were recording with fraps, but dxtory is still better if you have kinda weak hardware.
for game recording that is

Yea agreed, quite a few big streamers use OBS too :)

If you can deal with somewhat large file sizes and coming up with $40 for a license, I'd suggest Bandicam. I use that for recording all my PC gaming and everything comes out great quality.

Fraps and Dxtory are vastly superior to Bandicam tbh

I'd recommend installing OptiFine to Minecraft. It adds a lot of great performance settings to the game to reduce lag by absolutely massive amounts. As for software, try fraps or dxtory!
