Sorry, haven't been on in a bit.
Just Updated it how does it look now?
It looks improved definitely. However, shrinking it down to Thumbnail size, the wooden tools don't stick out. They are dark, the grass is dark. What you could do is increase the lights and maybe slightly increase the darks in contrast settings. I dunno what you do to make thumbnails but make the wooden tools brighter or the grass part brighter. Preferably the grass.
When this image gets shrunk down to thumbnail size, you probably won't be able to tell it's a bow.
I downloaded the image and shrunk it down. If he makes the tools brighter and crops the inside to rid of the white background, the bow is clearly visible.
(Later). Michael. Here is the image I worked with
Here is the after image.
I didn't re-make your thumbnail without reason. I will explain a few things. I added a black outline and a white glow shadow that *almost* matches your "Micro Battles" glow. This is to make the "1" stick out more. I could have corrected the "#" in terms of black outline and glow, but that would be pointless for me to correct if you get the point. You want your key parts of the thumbnail to pop out. I also brightened the tools and even brightened the background via contrast. I believe I made the tools significantly brighter than I did the background. I also added a "fade" or transition from the bright foreground to the background. This is to give it a pop-out effect and make it seem more focused. If you have noticed, I also cropped the inside of the bow too. I had to crop a part of the lava and place it under the bow to seem see-through, but it is just the lava right above it only turned and enlargened under the bow.
I have shrunken this to 2 different thumbnail sizes and needed to tell you a few adjustments.
Tips:
-You need to increase the size of your text and maybe even icons. Down at the larger thumbnail size, it still is difficult to read. so it needs to be larger for readability.
-Use the resolution 1280x720 (width:1280 and height: 720), otherwise you will have black bars either on the height or width
-Use effects! Don't *just* take a picture and throw stuff over it. Make it yours. Personally, I actually don't use effects on the background too much because my foreground is too focused upon, I still use some effects over the background image. Own it! Give it a certain style of blur, brighten/darken it, color correct it (change the colors), etc etc.
-The power of the crop is very useful. You can do many things with it other than throwing things on top. In fact, I make my glow effects from cropping the image and cropping just a solid color. You can use it to transition things by having it feather into another background. That is how I made the brighter foreground and slightly darker background on the edges of the image.
-Don't just make things larger for visibility! Place them in powerful spots that you like.
-Don't have too much blending going on unless it is intentional. A good example would be your sword kind of just felt a part of the background more than it did in my remade version.
-Keep your text matching. It doesn't have to have the same font, but the same style. The "1" did not have any dropshadows/outlines where as the other text did. I understand the "Minecraft" having no glows and only a drop shadow or depth. Some spots make it look 3d which is nice. However, if you have glows, shadows, outlines, at least add one of those to all types of text. The "1" just blended where as everything popped out because of the additions.
Otherwise, good job on everything! Make your thumbnails a part of you! Don't make them generic. How do
*you* want them to be?[DOUBLEPOST=1429459426,1429459220][/DOUBLEPOST]In case you can't access the images, here you go.
