I Need A Good Camera + MicroPhone

TheBardKen

I am The Bard, hear me roar.
Hey friends! TheBardKen here. I'm planning on starting up a new youtube channel.

I've only ever done LetsPlays before and I had to quit fro various reasons... Now that I'm able to get back into Youtube I've decided I want to move to a different type of channel.

I'm still working on what my niche will be but for the most part it will feature my face, so here's where you come in!

I need a camera and microphone for recording myself! I can handle mediocre editing, etc. Right now I just need a good quality video and audio capturing device.

I have a semi-open budget, but I'd rather hear your recommendations and pricing first.

I also want to be able to put it on a stand, or adhere to anyplace.

But for now, something simple but effective.

Shoot!

Hello and welcome to the YTtalk forum community! Good luck with finding a good camera. I'm trying to find a good microphone myself :)

I'm using a Canon EOS 650D and a zoom h2n mic for my videos..
I make drum cover, but these work very well if you gonna record yourself talk, you might wanna consider a cheaper camera if you only gonna have it for making those videos

Yes this is what I meant, but unfortunately outside of my dedicated price range. Thank you so much though!

If the 650D is to expensive, maybe 600D will be better? Also, consider buying some good lens. If you're planning to shoot only yourself, I suggest you buy DSLR body only + a good prime lens. The kit lens are good, but not that great.

For the sound there are two types of mics: stereo and shotgun. (i'm talking about basic types here). So, knowing what each one is used for it's going to help you decide which type to take.

great started camera would be the one i have the canon t3i and a great mic is the rhode video mic pro. make sure to buy good lens though. really improves the video quality.

Thank you everyone for the help. I've gotten a decent starting camera for the time being and I'll work my way up from here :)
