I look at some channels and think...

Well hallo ladies and mentlegen.

I want to post this but am scared to many people will take this up wrong. I will try and not make this offensive

So I am a new channel with a low subscriber count for the moment it does not bother me since I know if I upload regularly and keep putting in effort this will change also I would prefer 20 active subscribers over 1000 non-active subscribers. I feel like I put in a lot of work in the content I create and put out their but then when I see some channels I can't understand how this guy reached 100 subs.

Their was this one channel that I can't get over * Names will be left out * he plays a lot of games but he never really speaks sometime it is just game content and no humor. His aim is to put comedy in his channel but I simply can't find any comedy. Maybe I don't get his humor or I am just being a d-bag but this is not what caught my attention.

He posted a vlog for his celebration of 150 subscribers. Basically he sits in his chair not really having a conversation and drinking some sort of cola and eating a sandwich I can barely hear what he is saying while he speaks because his mouth is full. The sandwich was more in front of the video camera then he was. The best line was " and yeah, thanks I guess for 150 subscribers " pieces of sandwich leaving his mouth.

I mean I would at least do something more special for my viewers if I reach 150 subscribers. Maybe I am just looking at it in the wrong perspective maybe it is more entertaining then I think it is.

My question is what am I doing wrong ? I live in South Africa so I guess I won't get as many viewers or subscribers then other countries or it doesn't matter where I am from and everything is equal.

I am really sorry if I insulted someone that was not the reason for this post

Thanks for reading
Sandman out.

you are doing nothing wrong.. Keep going and keep building and creating good content. U will find an audience. Don't worry about what others do, focus on your channel and you.

If people who deserve attention and success for their work received it, the world would be another place.

What you describe, is the sole reason why mtv exists, and why reality shows are popular, even thought everyone you know yells how dumb they are.

I know a few south african youtubers who are far bigger then me

My advice is to stop looking into other peoples channels and just focus on your own content, at the end of the day you want to self improve. If you just compare yourself to others all the time, firstly there will always be someone better then you and secondly you wont improve half as much as you would.

Might be because your not reaching out to the right people to make yourself have an audience, I talked to probably 20 new people a day 5 days a week and sometimes 3 of them subbed to me because we have same things in common and they like my content. there is 7 billion people on planet earth im sure at least 500k to 500 million like my content but i havent found them yet.

I feel the same way about certain channels, but youve got to remember that youve just got to do you. and think "if this kid can do it with no effort, imagine what i could do?!" thats whats kept me chuggin along.

Yeah I sometimes see some channels with huge sub bases and it does make me wonder how they've received so many but they've struck a chord with a group of people and interact with them well.

You've just got to focus on your content, find your niche and audience. I think it's a bit like life, it's best to try and avoid comparing yourself to others.

Thank you ladies and mentlegen for all the awesome comments. I have read through them all and I would use all your tips. This community is just awesome. I feel much better and this gave me a lot of motivation out of your comments.

This made my day

That is the most optimistic way of looking at it, I have ever heard. I would give you a medal, sir, if I could. : D
It's true though, its impossible for 6,999,999,999 people to not like your content.[DOUBLEPOST=1393126662,1393126484][/DOUBLEPOST]

I've seen 8-15 year olds with channels with more than 900k subs and make like almost a anywhere between 500k-1mil and they produce good stuff they talk clear and nice, they have fun and show it. I'm no where close to being like a 12 year old who is just a fun person to watch. It amazes me, sure i get jealous but not to bad where im like oh well this isnt going to work for me. advice for all of you is to keep doing what you do, and make progress. every recording is better and better, one video is bound to be viral if you make a 100.
