I have a confession

ItsBecky

Internet Idiot who loves making people laugh
Basically I am hoping to do a 50 facts about me video as a special for hitting 800 subs, but i have another hobby other then youtube, which i know sadly has a really stereotypical negative reputation, but just like youtube I enjoy it so much, i need to know if i should mention this or not in the video

I have been doing pole fitness for over a year and I am fully aware, that it is seen as extremely sexual and some people sadly automatically think girls who do it are sl*ts, and everyone thinks people like us work in some kind of strip joint

I would never personally work in one of those places, and I literally do once a week FITNESS classes i don't see it as "pole dancing" at all, but due to the negative stereotype i don't know whether to mention it in my video or not that I do it, i'm scared I will either lose subs because of it, or that I will gain subs but in the wrong way. I don't want to be seen like that at all its just a fitness class like everything else

As much as i love doing it, i do struggle to tell people it's something I do because of this issue, but it makes me just as happy as youtube and i have again met some great people through it.

What are peoples honest opinions on this and should i mention it or not?

if people follow me on insta they are going to see photos of me that I have taken from my classes anyway so they would find out, but i'm just worried that i will be judged by my subs

And the whole dancing around in a crop top and shorts thing you guys may notice from people who do it? it's literally just a health and safety feature to help us grip the pole with our skin as otherwise we would fall off when doing harder moves its hard to explain that though

I was a bit nervous about posting this but I really want to know peoples opinions, as i guess they would find out eventually if they follow me on ig or whatever right?

I just don't want people (or you guys) to get the wrong idea about me for doing it

Thanks in advance for any advice

I see nothing wrong with it. If you think it's wrong then don't do it, but if it's something you like I see no problem with it. Sharing with the world is all up to you though, just use your own judgment before posting if you are doubting yourself.

Fitness pole dancing is becoming more popular, and you should mention it - otherwise those who are judgemental about it win. I know that's easy for me to say, comfortably sitting here at my desk, but if thing get too rough in the comments section, you can always delete insulting or harassing comments. :)

Regarding loss of subscribers: Do you really want people on your channel who call you a "****" because you do pole dancing?

I think that you should definitely include it if it's a hobby of yours, and something that you do for exercise and that you enjoy! If people want to take it in a way that is sexual or think poorly of you for it, that speaks more about them than you. Some people are just ignorant! ha but I look forward to your video!

I would say if you're truly passionate about it, then share it. It's true it might turn-off some people, but I guarantee you that those who who'll admire you for it will connect with you deeper and those become your loyal followers. I would rather lose 10 subs in exchange for 4 really loyal subs. But I highly doubt you'll lose subs over this.

Anna Akana (who has 2 million odd subs) mentioned it in one of her vids, and she got a really good reaction for it.

Don't worry, the best thing to do would be to show yourself as exactly who you are :D

Mention it why not? Who cares what others think. Infact i actually think that can grow interest about you because its not a regular thing you hear about everyday its not something expected to be someones hobby. That makes you having an interesting lifestyle that other ppl could be interested in.

The main determining factor for how your viewers are going to receive and react to this is all in your presentation.

If in your video you say, "Here's what I do, I know you might think I work in a strip joint ... etc" what will your viewers immediately think? You work in a strip joint.

But, if you say, "Here's what I do, it works out these parts of your muscles and I have a lot of fun doing it" what will your viewers think? You enjoy doing this, and it's great exercise.

You should definitely mention it. I've seen news articles on TV about the increase in popularity of fitness pole dancing and it showed normal people doing it. It has become way more mainstream and it's pretty popular.

In fact, I'd go further and say, you should do some tutorial videos on it if you're any good. That's an excellent niche IMHO.

thanks guys! it's the only other thing other then youtube i am really passionate about and makes me so incredibly happy, and tbh i want to change the view on it, i don't want to hide it away from the world if i do become successful on youtube, if anything i would love to be able to change peoples views on it, it is honestly one of the best workouts for your body, and i know guys who do it too!

I have absolutely no problem with people who do it as a career but 1. im not confident enough to do that anyway and 2. i am not generally interested in doing it as any more then a hobby on the side

I think i will mention it then as like i said i have photos on my insta of me doing it and i mention it in my insta bio and on twitter sometimes, but i guess you guys are right i definitely would not want people who call me a sl*t and stuff in the comments as subscribers anyway and hopefully i will find other people who are passionate about it, or even encourage others to start! I do get people say they really want to try it and think it looks amazing when i do it, but are too scared because of being judged, and it's really sad that I am even having to ask this first and being nervous about confessing it instead of just mentioning it in the video like it was any other sport like swimming!

I will probably make it the very last fact, and to be honest not everyone watches my whole video anyway so quite a few may not even get that far to hear me admit to it! But maybe once i have confessed i can do a video addressing the stigma behind it which has also been an idea for a while! :)

Thankyou to all of you for being really understanding, and i would love to do tutorial videos but right now i sadly do not own my own pole![DOUBLEPOST=1466620558,1466619804][/DOUBLEPOST]
