Loving YTtalk
I used to hate editing, so I really only cut and spliced my clips to make a video. As such my video quality was very bad.
About 2 years ago I decided to really improve my videos. So I started to learn about color correction for video. Something I had already been doing for photos. Using free or cheap programs it was very hard to get the look that I wanted. But I learned more about how to get better looking video with camera settings (once again something I was already doing for photos). And I improved my lighting. All of this laid a foundation for my next step.
For that I decided to go with Final Cut Pro for editing (I can not see paying a monthly fee for software). But the interface is not the best... Actually it sucks. Then I found Color Finale when watching how to videos on YT for it they talked about shooting in Log mode. So I started researching that. I was also ready to upgrade my camera so I started looking into cameras that could shoot in Log or a similar flat mode. I switched over from shooting on Nikon to a Cannon and bought Color Finale.
To see what I am talking about search YT for Create Cinematic Look in FCP X with Color Finale
Anyway now in a reasonable about of time (1 hour per minute for voiceover and editing) I can edit some great looking video that I am happy with.
I still do not like editing but I love the results that I get and I am in control of the process.
