I HATE Editing (desperately seeking tips to streamline the process)

I've been working with Windows Live Movie Maker on all the videos I've made and uploaded since I got my HP PC Laptop.
I've downloaded MPEG Streamclip a long time ago (like 2 years ago) and it doesn't work right. I've also got Lightworks but I can't use clips from a variety of file types - plus either the free trial has ended or I just can't remember my username and password.
Obviously, jumpcut videos are all the rage for the top tier Youtubers. I try doing that with Movie Maker and I wanna eat a shotgun. I'm looking at my awkward self in the raw footage over and over again feeling stupid.

I think the thing I'm looking for that best meets my needs is a nonlinear editor that's cheap and for PC. If not, at least some tips for making Windows Live Movie Maker more bearable.

This is a huge roadblock to me making videos.

I personally would just get a better editing software as movie maker just doesn't cut it and really is lacking in functions, I'm not sure which ones are cheap because I've worked using the professional softwares for around 4 years now. But, if you can, I would find a software that has a keyboard shortcut for EVERYTHING and I mean everything since I've learn't the shortcuts for all the tools I use on a day to day basis in Premiere Pro I've sped up my editing time around 50% just because the only time I need to really move the cursor is when I want to drag clips on or change the order of them.

pretty much this, i have both adobe premier (dont use it tho) and sony vegas, both are the best on the market that i can think of, SUPER expensive but if you are planning on doing youtube a long time, its the investment that's kinda needed.

gone are the days of clicking the little razor button in Premiere :D

Indeed, Final Cut or Adobe Premiere are so much better than for instance Windows Movie Maker. Why not download a demo version of those to see if you like them?

people will all go for sony vegas or adobe.. if i where you i would look into movavi.. cheap- easy to use and has enough to work with properly.
i use it since i do youtube and i achieve everything with this porgram.

my youtube channel has a video up about if your interested, but its your call a the end :)

I was going to use Movie Maker but it's not powerful enough for my liking so I use Premiere Pro. As for editing cuts it can still take time, especially depending on how much content you've recorded vs the video you want to produce. Example if you want to produce a 15min video and you've recorded around 20mins, it shouldn't be too long to cut down. I honestly don't know how pewd or nanners or the higher YouTubers do it, usually all my stuff is pre-recorded days in advance and they do stuff almost on the spot from what it looks like. But to give you an idea, for a playthrough I'm doing I started 12pm yesterday and just finished today at around 10pm, 2hrs 30mins worth of recorded footage, I was able to create 15 parts to the playthrough, I cut it down to 1hr 50mins. I've got 8hrs 30mins recorded as well lol so 6hrs left >.>

i've just finished editing my vid. It should be up soon. I've encountered another problem along the way and that's converting the video from a project to a file. Youtube doesn't support wlmp (or wmlp) and Live Movie Maker doesn't save it into a file. Not my biggest worry however. Those are detailed in my original post.

I just have issues trying to focus when editing and endure the process. How do you guys cope?

I personally enjoying editing and find it fun how I can find all sorts of things to do to the clips I'm editing, I'm guessing this is different for a vlogger thought because it's just clips of yourself..
But, personally I just find editing relaxing. I can take my mind of the rest of the world and everything else that I need to do for college like paper and just work on my college film for a few hours and not get bored. 10 minutes of writing a paper and I'm bored, 3 hours of editing and I'm trying to find ways to improve and spend longer on my work.

Indeed, my point on this subject is: when you hate editing, why would you even start a Youtube channel? Most of the work you will do involves editing.
