I get demotivated sometimes...

Yeah I've had plenty of days where... I wasn't so much unmotivated but more discouraged. Watching other channels doing very similar content as you blow up while you stay small can be very discouraging. Pulling lots of views but having trouble gaining subs is also discouraging. In recent months looking to change the direction of my channel has also left me at a loss sometimes about whether it will be worth the effort, even though I know I have the skills to do it.

Honestly, to keep myself motivated I often watch other videos on YouTube. Not just any videos though. I keep a playlist of videos with people talking about stuff like motivation, YouTube tips, approaching YouTube from a business standpoint, or successful YouTubers talking about important lessons they've learned or how they moved into doing YouTube full-time. So if I'm feeling unmotivated I'll usually watch a video from there and that gets me going again.

I am the opposite. I am always demotivated and I have to find motivation every week or so to punt out a few vids to keep up with the schedule
no sh*t. When you've been grinding for years i'm sure this is common. I've only been at it for several months and i'm already like "crap i gotta upload some videos for the week." sometimes.

just gotta keep pushing through, it's a pain in the a**.

I just saw your GTX 1080 review, and I can see why you're feeling very demotivated. That was a very high quality tech vid, and I was really surprised that there weren't a lot of views on it.

I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum is going through what you're going through. We're all small YouTubers, and are pretty much invisible to the rest of the YouTube community. I've been feeling pretty demotivated as well, putting so much work into my video content, thumbnails, SEO, etc. Then when I share it around, there's very little interaction.....heck, there's very little reaction.

But the way I've been keeping myself motivated is by looking at every small accomplishment as one step forward. Even if I only get 1 new view in an entire day (and that's happened many times), it's still progress. And the more videos you produce, the more "doorways" you have for people to discover you. Just keep on producing, and they will eventually follow. Don't stop doing what you love doing. :)
Hey man, thanks for watching my video and enjoying it :) it's people like you who really keep me motivated!

I find SEO and tags really, really difficult! I never seem to find the correct tags and I can't think of any good ones even while using TubeBuddy all the time haha.

Thanks for the great advice and motivation!!

To me, the most important thing is to not allow things that are outside of my control to keep me from doing the things that move the needle forward on what I want to accomplish. I know I can make videos, and I know I can promote them, and so that's what I do. If I wait for motivation or pay too much attention to what each individual video does in terms of views, likes, etc. (beyond seeing patterns in terms of what works and what doesn't), then that'll interfere with my overall goal of making great video content.
Exactly! Focus on what you can control and don't get too caught up in the rest. Obviously, adjust your approach if something isn't working, but just keep going. You've already done the hard part. Taking action!

Yeah, we've experienced how you feel. You just need to focus on continuing to create good content, and coming up with new ideas. When we do happen to get a new subscriber, we get really excited, and more motivated though.

I'm kinda going through this phase too. I have ideas and inspirations but I'm not quite motivated to go out and make it happen. I work on my videos alone and I prefer it when I'm out with friends doing stuff cos there'll be more to show. I want to make videos and I like the old YouTube concept of "one-man-show" but I guess I kinda need some pushing too. So, I guess when school starts again tomorrow, I'll be making more videos :)

Yup, same boat here. I uploaded my first video a little over three weeks ago and still only got 8 subs and minimal views.

However i enjoy making the content and i am still learning the whole editing and commentary side of things and i still have a lot to learn, so tbh im not overly surprised my channel isnt growing as quick as others. but I'm gonna hang in there and keep making my videos.

It is hard sometimes i know that, but as long as you are creating content that you enjoy creating, then I am sure it will come at some point. Be persistent! Good luck! :)

Hey, there! I have a slow growing channel and it sometimes gets me down. But you have to remember that growth is not linear. Be there for the subscribers and viewers that you have now. And show up for yourself every week. You may not be seeing the results that you want right away, but you are gaining a lot of experience. Being a creator is a learning process.

Hey community,

Are you guys doing well??

If you don't mind, I just wanted to share my experience with you guys today.

I started YouTube about 7 months ago and it has been going great, I upload on a regular basis and I have been improving and learning a lot ever since.

But then there is some days where I don't seem to get any responses, followers, subscribers on my channel and YouTube, this demotivates me a lot.

Has anyone else been experiencing this? What do you do to keep yourself motivated to work hard?

I think 99% of regular content creators have experienced this - and if they haven't yet, they certainly will.

Working a busy job with irregular hours and suffering from a mood disorder means I'm fighting with my motivation to live in general 24/7. I think if you prepare yourself and know it's gonna happen and that it's pretty natural for that to happen, it's a lot easier to deal with.

Usually, when I'm demotivated with YouTube, I look at what is causing me to not want to do it. Is it recording? Editing? Writing? Something else?
Then I try to find a way around it, which usually results in me sucking it up and doing it anyway. I tell myself that none of my idols got what they wanted by sitting around and expecting good things to fall into their lap.

Tough love is what gets me through it. It's hard sometimes, but it's worth it. I always feel a million times better when I've managed to put something new out there. 98% of the time, my worst enemy in all of this is myself.

I think I have an interesting anecdote when it comes to motivation...

At first when I finally pulled the trigger and started uploading video's I was of course very motivated and enjoyed every single second. My first month was also really successful in my eyes (112 first month) in the gaming niche without sub4sub or any kind of promotional tools.

Then after a while things slowed down, views went down I felt like quitting... I always told myself just keep going, you enjoy making video's the viewers will come eventually and I set new goals for myself. "When I reach 200 subscribers surely I'm never going to be demotivated again"

I reached 200 subscribers and things slowed down again. Moral of the story I kept pushing milestones and now I'm sitting on 2k after 9 months. Now I have loyal viewers, get great comments and amazing twitter messages that motivate me every day. I've also passed a point where I was trying to prove myself to me... In my mind if I managed to gather 2000 people to watch me, there must be more to come and I'm no longer battling my own doubt which caused my demotivation.

Just keep going, improve yourself as much as you can and it'll work out
