I don't follow trends

As the title suggests, I really don't care about following trends on Youtube with the bigger ones jumping on every little new flavor of the week game. I don't do that, I stick to my guns to what I like and what content I upload.

Am I alone out here?
 
No, but its not unwise to do that. If you are looking to grow your channel and get it out there, then doing that isn't being fickle, its trying to make sure your content has the highest SEO of the week.

But keeping to your guns and having a theme with the games you play isn't bad either. It means people know what they are in for, plus it means you will have a more specific niche.

I just know if I was in gameplay, I would play quite a few of the big games to get my channel out there :-)

I jumped on the Trend of Unturned, after PewDiePie played it because I enjoy that game, however my main focus on my channel is some RTS game that no other YouTuber does videos on...
 
I don't normally but I do sometimes, it's a good way to get out there. When flappy bird was trending my friend made a video on it and she got 1,000 views and normally she gets 30 per video so it's not always best to be non conforming

I stated I wouldn't touch Minecraft, Call of Duty or Battlefield games on my discussion page some time ago and won't break it by doing things such as playing trending games. I probably would do some Payday 2 or Warframe co-op with a friend sometime down the road.
