I can't believe you only have (insert number here) subs!?

Recently I've gotten a large number of comments from my audience essentially saying that they were surprised that I didn't have more subscribers. I have spent a lot of time doing research and trying to increase the quality of content on my channel. Maybe their comments are just flattery, maybe my content really has improved. Either way, I tend to respond "thanks so much for the comment, I'm just glad someone is watching and appreciates it." Growth seems to be happening, if ever slowly.

Do you guys get comments like this?

Yes, in general from people who truly appreciate your content. It might be flattery but it means the person who says things like that rates your content higher than other bigger channels.

I saw people on my channel who says I should have the same amount of subs as PewDiePie...

Yeah a few, they are very nice comments and ive written some out myself to other youtubers. Quality does not neccesarily = popular. Theres an awful lot of talent out there that still needs time to shine.

I get it a lot too. :/ It kind of discourages me strangely enough because it makes me feel like the problem is I'm unlikable and anyone else in my position would've broken out by now...

yes ... but only sometimes are actual subs that follow me and actually appreciate the content .... and the other times its just someone using flattery and then telling me that all my wishes will come true if I click on "this link below"
