How worthwhile is captioning?

Has anyone who has made a significant amount of videos both with and without captioning noticed any real difference in the results? I've put captions on my latest video because I thought the way it was designed, it could be somewhat difficult to make out words, and with the auto-translator, it might be slightly more accessible to other people. Now I'm kind of wondering whether I should put captions on any future videos. If it helps, I would probably want to do it, if it's just a waste of time though, I won't.
 
not something I use to be honest. Ideally words should be clear and able to understand. I really think the captioning is used perhaps with people who may not have english as their 1st language....
 
You could look at or find out how many of your viewers or potential veiwers would need it. Don't know how, but an idea. I almost never turn it on when watching videos, but it something is louder than your voice it may be a good idea.
 
So far, the only video I've done captioning for has gotten twice the views in half the time as some of my other videos, but since it's drastically different from the other videos, it's not a good indicator at all...
 
If your question is will it help you in the search results, then the answer is no. It has zero effect for SEO purposes. I have done extensive tests to prove this and this has also been confirmed by SEO experts too.

That's not to say doing captions is bad. It's always a bonus for your video. It won't harm your views. But if you're doing it with the sole aim of getting a boost in the search, then you'd be wasting your time. And talking of time, captions is a really long and tedious process!
