How Useful is Blogger?

I've heard that running a blog can be helpful for a Youtuber but I'm kind of confused as to how & what I could even put on a blog should I start one. Plus does it make it easier for people to find your videos & channel?

Clear answer: It depends.

If you offer value content on your blog that accompanies your videos then yes. Articles that allow you to embed your videos and that attract people can indeed support your videos.

I own a blog, but it's totally unrelated from my videos. I'm currently working on turning it into a portfolio website with all my videos embedded onto it. Then the blog side will be turned into a behind the scenes type deal. Where I will post examples of all the paperwork, scripts, treatments and also draw examples the setup I used, which would be a birds eye of the room, where the lights were located and where the camera and other equipment was positioned.

I thought this would be a good idea, I know a lot of people do behind the scenes videos, but a blog with all the examples of paperwork and such would give it more of a learning platform as students of starting out filmmakers would be able to see the sorts of things you need to sort out when creating videos.

But I feel blogs need to add something new. If I could attach files and such to the description of a youtube video I wouldn't need to create a blog for it.

Conclusion: blogs are a lot of work, if you aren't going to add something unique and don't have to time to keep it up to date, don't bother. They can also cost a lot of time and money to create and keep.

Totally depends on what you are thinking about vlogging about really,

I'm using my 2nd channel to Vlog but I have done one or two vlogs on my main channel about issues I wanted to address (like youtubers showing off their cars)

hope that helps!

I have a blog before some years i make it for my shop. But the thing is that if you can upload at least every week articles and text posts so you can have people who will watch your blog is ok.If you cant have 500 for example visits on your blog every month then is worthless.Because not all of them they will check your youtube channel. The think is how to drive traffic to all these people if you havent very nice and regular content.

I like the idea of putting out blog posts that are similar to your videos. I would definitely do it, because you can definitely get a lot more keywords into a blog post. I also think it is more beneficial if your blog posts are based on current events. I may dabble with a blog in the future. However, at the time being, it also sounds like a lot more work than I have time for.
