How to write tags correctly on your youtube videos

Yes, separate them with commas as people have said.....but also, the reason they may be disappearing is, (I had this happen to me before too) you can only use 1 to 3 key words with quotation marks.......so you want to put quotation marks around the most important tags:

"John Lennon" music, cover, piano, your channel name, "Imagine", musician....etc etc.

And yes I agree it's very important to use keywords that only describe the video...if not, people will not like it!

writing tags is a good way to get your video out there, Be descriptive Use tags that relate to your video do a Quick search for Imagine by John Lennon Guitar Cover And Take a few tags from that video this will help rank you up also, if tags disappear it's b/c you don't have them formatted right
EX: Imagine John Lennon Cover If you want to add some of the same words agian you must use the " symbol
EX: " John Lennon Guitar Cover"

I wrote about this specifically in a blog post. Pay particular attention to the first point. Reply to this thread if you have anymore questions or if you want me to clarify anything: newmediarockstars[dot]com/2012/10/3-youtube-layout-changes-google-is-set-to-make/

Thank you, this really makes everything clear now.

As I have been reading so far, tags is a great way for others to see your video, but my question is how do you exactly write the tags.

For example your title is "Imagine by John Lennon Guitar Cover"

Should I write this by words, phrase, or sentences if you have several phrases or words, how do you separate them, is it by apostrophe or coma or what symbol to use?

Reason for asking is that sometimes if I check and edit my uploads, the tags I wrote disappear so I need to rewrite them again. Highly appreciate it if you can provide some samples for those who will respond.
They have updated YouTube now so you can tell when your tags are correct. So for example if i made a video titled 'Lady Gaga - Poker Face' My tags would be such as - Lady, Gaga, Poker, Face, Music, .. and so on!When there separated with a comma they change into a blue box which means they are now a tag :) Hope this helps!

What about tags that are not relevant to your video, such as popular tags like Lady Gaga, Cat videos, etc??? Does that strike against you?
