How to use Twitter effectively

Hey everybody out there I've been doing this whole youtube thingy for about a month consistently and I think I'm doing okay, however I know if you don't promote your content then it doesn't get out there.

I'm probably one of those few people out there who hates twitter I just don't get it but it is a brilliant platform to promote your channel.

Soooooooo my question is how should I go about wording my posts to get the video out there without sounding like a bit of an idiot!

I would use Facebook but I've got everyone from school and college on there and since I used to get bullied I'd rather not share the content there just in case!!

This may not sound entirely like the answer that you want, but Twitter is an excellent way to interact with your viewers outside of YouTube and that tactic is what keeps them around longer. :) Because their relationship with you becomes more personal.

So if you use Twitter to interact with them, they'll help share your content when you tweet it out. It's a bit of a snowball effect.
 
Whenever I put something on Twitter I just give it a tiny description and finish by saying check this out! or something similar to that. I think it helps to post semi regularly on there as well
 
Do you guys struggle with the word limit? By the time I've posted the link, a little description there's no room for any hash tags. It's so annoying trying to make it sound charismatic yet have so little words!

I used to, mostly because I love getting wordy. It's just a matter of practice and rearranging stuff :) if you can fit any hashtags in though I highly recommend supportsmalltubes that one has helped me a ton

Well hashtags seem to be one way, if you do a hashtag that is trending your video may pop up. Also contacting the right person via a direct Tweet can lead to a ton of views if they have a platform to share it. Here's one of my only Twitter success examples, I keep these pictures like trophies. Basically I found a contact name on a site that posts videos where I thought mine would fit in and it actually worked. And of course right after that the person changed jobs so it was a one and done type of thing. I have similar results on Facebook via direct messages on plenty of pages, you just need to experiment.

I wouldn't worry about bullies on facebook. There's tons of ways to get your content out there, but I understand your frustration with the tags
