How to stay motivated?

Hey I really want to be a successful vlogger only probably I can never stay motivated. I only have about nine subscribe and 6 of those are people I know and all never really watch my videos besides my sister who just criticize everything I'm doing and saying and says I'm never going to being successful with this because my videos are awful. None of it is really constructive and never says the good things I might be doing. Anyway it kind of gets me unmotivated because I don't have at least a few people who like my videos and actually watch them and I feel dumb making these videos because I feel like no one will watch them and their bad. I end up locking most of my videos for this reason also. They're moments where I feel motivated and ready but it very fleeting. How do you stay motivated to keep making videos?

Well, you've made a great first choice by joining the YTtalk family. There are so many supportive, positive people here who offer both praise and constructive criticism when needed. Get involved in the forums here, mingle, make friends. I think the more you put yourself out there, the more you'll find people who appreciate what you're doing and you'll keep on growing. :)

I see a bunch of negativity here and that will never help you. Your videos are only as good as the time and thought you put into them. If you allow others, especially family break you down then yes, you will not get far.

Try watching some videos on how to edit and and other stuff that has to do with making a vlog. Everyone had to start somewhere, even the youtubers that are big today. There is so much help out there. There's really no excuse for not being educated in some way. All you need is the internet and a will to make videos.

You also shouldn't restrict yourself to just vlogs. There's got to be something that you are very interested in and you know a lot about that you can make a video about. Also at the same time you have to make it entertaining or not many will watch...at least not the whole video.

Y'know it is hard. If you feel like you enjoy the making process and its just for you, thats always a thing you can do. Make them for you and not share them. That said if your goal is to become a successful vlogger on youtube then obviously you need to to share them, you gotta start at the bottom and work up and you have to be prepared to go possibly months of regular videos without more than 10 people watching. You use each video as a milestone as each one will be something new you will learn, either about the video making process or the sharing process and eventually your audience will start to grow and yo will get better. The main thing is it is a long process and you have to be content with making the videos just for you first before you can make for anyone else.

If you want to attract more people to your videos use what YouTube gives you, such as having a big description directly talking to your "fans" and explaining what has occurred in the video. These act like tags meaning your videos will be viewed more often. Also, you don't use tags meaning it's almost impossible to find your content unless you give me a link to it.

Any way, let's talk about motivation; I have been extremely lucky on YouTube and have got many people "begging" for new content, even thou I have not posted in the last three days because I was ill and got my results from Gcse, but that has always kept me motivated. I would suggest you make it into more of a hobby and re-watch your older content and see how you can improve and see you gradually getting better over time, for me that gives me motivation as well, seeing my own personally improvement.

Surrounding yourself with other like-minded youtubers helps a ton. If you see a bunch of your friends, even internet friends, making videos, you'll want to do it too.

Just do what you want to do on YouTube. It's really easy for other people to leave nonconstructive comments, but here that rarely happens.

The #1 thing I see that is the easiest fix is a better camera. I would start saving up for one of those NAO! YouTubers used to be fine with non HD content, but nowadays there are a lot of snobs that won't even bother with the rest of the video if it's 480p. Shoot for 720p at the very least! That will also bring out more of your face.

just keep doing what you have fun doing and nothing else, if you're not enjoying it, that's going to reflect in your videos a lot

Just remember that if anything, you can make these videos and have them as a chronicle of this time of your life, even if nobody watches them. They'll be special years from now.

That sounds pretty awesome to me. That'd make me want to keep going.

I have to agree with people here. Do it for YOU. Do it because YOU enjoy it. DON'T worry about the negativity surrounding you. DO try to get a better camera. You can pick up some pretty cheap cams that shoot at least 720 video.

Motivation is something that affects me too. But I just think about my end goal. Its about the journey. Who knows where I'll end up. Who I'll meet on the way. How many dreams I'll invade. As long as I get Nancy...
