How To Promote On Twitter?

That's good for niche channels, but if you're just a vlogger, it seems like a dead end as to what to do.
Not if your interested in other vloggers. Like if you're a fan of Jenna Marbles you could follow some of her fans. Make sure they're people who actually seem to tweet and go from there.

I typed in "bored" on Twitter and followed about 40 people who had mentioned that word, just to see if they'd be so bored as to check out my channel link on my page, but I don't think that has gotten me anything. Without being a spammy b*****d, is there anything you can do to promote yourself on Twitter? If there isn't, I shall be a spammy b*****d without holding back (just kidding).
Spamming never got anyone anywhere on Twitter. You need to engage (even if people don't respond back ... give it time and keep at it). You need to retweet posts you find interesting, as well as post things yourself that are interesting (and not just what you had for breakfast!). Also learn to use hashtags effectively.

Here's a pretty good list of tips and tricks to get you started. http://www.computerhope.com/tips/tip149.htm

And this is coming from someone who has managed to build a Twitter following of over 1900 people on her business Twitter account (@EndressAnalytic).

Thanks a lot, this is helpful!

Twitter fo rme seems to be really hard to break into to get more subs, I have tried using the hashtags, but your suggestion of using the search bar sounds intriguing, I shall try it out.

You would be amazed at the true power of hashtags. There are entire communities on twitter built around specs hashtags. For my business twitter I do a lot of networking through the #measure hash tag (a lot of us Web Analysts use it).
