How to position the lights on you?

Hi guys.

Recently upgrade from 2 soft boxes to these led lights. Mainly because the soft boxes were too big.

How can I position the lights on me? Do I have one right behind the camera so it's shining directly on the front of me. Where shall I position the other one??

Thanks

Put one in front light you, and one above you angled down to act as your hair light. The hair light will make you pop out of your background more. If you can, i would try to eventually get a third light so you can have a proper three point lighting set up. But for now, two lights will be just fine!

You could probably even use one of you old softboxes with your new lights, if you still have them.

You should really use three, not two as stated above for the most even, 'natural' look. Other wise you might end up with some horror movie dramatic shadow action.

I'm not sure about Zoella's set up but I've watched some behind the scenes for Joe and Capsar and they usually have have their lights bouncing off the walls (Not pointed directly at them) This will diffuse the light so it wont be as harsh on you and also spread it across the room when in a small room. Ive also seen them do it where they have two lights on either side of them (Basically a three point lighting system with out the back light). Its all about trying different setups and seeing what works best for your personal preference and whats practical for the size of you room.

I have no experience with lighting - just got a camera and about to shoot my first video next week, but I have read some tutorials! I've read that putting a light behind the camera and having it reflect off of the wall, or whatever is behind you is best. I'm guessing the three point light system is setting up the lights like a triangle? 2 on the sides and one behind the camera for the best diffusion.
The article I read for some really good tips was from Wistia and titled "Lighting on the fly" or something like that. It won't let me link it here lol but hope that helps you!
