How to Make Realistic Goals/Expectations

Hey guys! So I was basically wondering how to set realistic goals and expectations for your youtube channel. I know that everyone's channel and experience will be different, but I was just wondering if their are some good general guidelines for setting goals

I just started my channel, but I reached 25 subs in 2 weeks. So I thought maybe my short term goal for 100 subs should be in another 6 weeks. But I'm not really sure if that's a good goal, or if it should be faster or slower.

Now, I have no idea if I should make any long term goals, or just set the short term goals and go from there. I would say my only long term goal at this point is to have fun with my channel, and make friends with some cool youtubers :)

Does anyone have any advice on making goals?

Just make realistic goals, as you know you can achieve them and when you do it will feel great! That's what I do:)

I think you should set a long-term goal(in numbers ;) )
And I think you should think big ...Usually i'm not that type of guy who says "you can do anything " and sh*t like that but how can you do something big if you can't even think/dream of it ? I read some financial books and in every book they said think big because you can't overcome your expectations. It seems pretty logic to me . And bottom line: What do you have to lose ? :)

Don't worry~~ When I started, I said to myself that I'd get 50 subscribers in 1 month and got it. I said I'd get another 50 subs in the next and got that. Then I said I'd get another 100 subs in the next month making a total of 200 subs and I surprisingly got that as well.

But now I'm getting scared lol!! It went too much like how I expected it to. O_O"" Though, there are channels out there that grew slower than me and some grew faster than me, what do you think you yourself can achieve? I think that is the question for you to answer yourself.

I like goal setting but how do you build a subscriber base so quickly? Should I make videos more frequently, branch out my content, start a second channel? I've been doing this for 4 months and have a lowly 7 subs.

I honestly am inexperienced, so I my advice isn't the best, but there are a few things I can say that I think might help you :) First, your should try to make thumbnails that stand out more, with words on them. That will help people get on the video (which needs to happen before they subscribe) Also, what you're saying seems to be interesting (I'm not a gun person, but I still think they were interesting), however in the video I saw, you just kept a picture of the gun on the screen the whole time. If it's a video where you're talking the whole time, then you should probably have the video focused on you talking, with the gun sitting in front of you or with you holding it, because that would be a lot more interesting as opposed to just seeing the gun not moving the whole time. The last suggestion I have is to try to put a little bit more energy into it. You seem to know what you're talking about and genuinely seem interested in it, but maybe you could use a little bit more energy to help get people excited about your channel :)

It seems like you have the right idea, but there are a few improvement you can make. Good luck, and I subbed to you!

Thanks for the encouragement! Now, I'm telling myself I'll get 100 subscribers by September 10th, and 500 by February.[DOUBLEPOST=1437668115,1437668060][/DOUBLEPOST]

I've made a long term goal of 10000 subscribers by the time I go to college (3 years from now) I'm gonna make this happen ;)

Thank you Jake. I genuinely appreciate the input and helpful suggestions. I didn't think that just a gun on a table might get boring haha. I need to work on personality I know they is huge for me...my background is public speaking (briefing) but in the USMC is briefing is dry and factual not creative haha. I need to break that bad habit.

Well I have a short term goal and a long term one. Short term is me having a little party every time I hit another 50 subscribers, I don't really have a set amount of time I want to get them in though. My long term goal is 10K which for all I care could take me my entire time on YouTube but that amount of people would fill Nottingham Arena and that seems mad to me so thats what I'm aiming at :)
